In all honesty, I don't get the same feeling about Reach as I got with Halo 2 and 3. This is probably because both Halo 1 and 2 left us with cliffhangers. With Reach, there isn't anything unfinished which we are anticipating. The high probability that we will not play as the Chief makes it puts a damper on it as well, along with the fact that we already know the end.

Does that mean I am not hyped for it? Absolutely not. This game is going to be amazing.
Halo 1 ended with a Cliffhanger how?
It didn't. :P

Ah yes. Because as we all know, having the main character drifting loose in space, with very little chance of ever returning home, is a completely watertight ending. Oh, and did MC not say himself he was just getting started? C'mon, did you even play CE through to the end? Thats more of a cliffhanger than Sylvester Stallone's hit movie, 'Cliffhanger'.
Hmm... Let me see. Halo: CE played out like this, Pillar of Autuom is attacked, people escape and find new world called Halo, they find Flood, Flood is released, to stop Flood Halo has to be activated which the humans attempt to do first to stop the Flood invasion, they realise what the Halo weapon really does, they blow up Halo ring, they escape on a well working ship that can easily travel them to a human colony somewhere.

Do you not know what a cliff hanger is? The whole story, everything that started in Halo: CE ended when the game finished. Halo 2 however was completely different.
.,.. Well you lost me. But anyway, oooh! Owned!

Ah, can't believe I said that.

Anyway, woo ODST! Awesome money making epansion ftw.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

I'd say, as the game gets closer to release, it'll definitely get up there. However, it won't be that same as Halo 3. Halo 3 had a great ARG, the Landfall and Believe campaigns, game fuel, and so much more. It the was the final game for a great story arc, one of the most famous in video game history (arguably). I doubt the hype for Halo 3 will ever be reached by future games, even ones made by Bungie.

im expecting tons of hype you have to remember beta come with odst and you know more then half of people still playing will be buying that.plus bungie friend's like rooster teeth(rvb creators) and other's site will be advertising the hell out of it most likly. so yes halo reach will have tons of hype just like halo 3.

[As of October 2012]
2013 ADFA Officer Cadet of the RAAF (Aerospace Engineer Electronics Officer).

A lot of people turned to COD4 when Halo 3 didn't completely live up to expectations, thus, all the people that were excited for Halo 3 aren't Halo fans anymore, out of my 15-ish close friends, about 8 of them have turned to COD or PS3.
So no, if we're going to get a similar amount of players then the chance is that they're going to be younger...

it will be IF it doesn't look the same as Halo 3.
if it looks the same it will get ODST syndrome, where people who know nothing about the game think its halo 3.1

No, I don't think anything in the Halo series will be more anticipated until Halo 4, if it ever comes out. Still excited, but won't be too happy until some other info actually comes out. We don't know much about it.

Halo 4 isnt gonna be that hyped either, u know why? cause bungies last halo game is reach. if there is any more halo games made it will be done by someone else. They announced this at comic con that they were finished with halo after halo odst and reach and want to move on to making other games.

here is a link to short and sweet explanation

"When life gives you lemons, don't make lemonade. Make life take the lemons back! Get mad! I don't want your damn lemons! What am I supposed to do with these? Demand to see life's manager! Make life rue the day it thought it could give EL1TE SUPR3MACY lemons! Do you know who I am? I'm the man who's gonna burn your house down! With the lemons! I'm gonna get my engineers to invent a combustible lemon that burns your house down!"

It will be once the BETA is released, I hope. :)

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

No, Halo 1 actually had an ending that wasn't a cliffhanger.

As of the moment...as of the moment...And do you really think they would give up on a franchise that makes trillons of dollars a year? Didn't think so.

I am of an open mind and I am willing to hear criticism. Also: That's stupid and you're stupid.

I don't think we will. I think we learned our lesson that we shouldn't over hype things.

I'm still excited for it though.

Cool Flame 00

Yes I think so because what I heard was that a small group from Bungie was working on Halo ODST but the rest of Bungie is working on Halo Reach. I heard this is their next big game I cant wait! I hope Halo ODST keepsus occupied till Halo Reach! Go Bungie!!

Gunnin since Halo 2....repeating the process up to (and through) Halo 4

I agree...it would take a lot of hyped people to recreate the intense anticipation that Halo 3 brought to the gaming universe.

Consider also that Bungie is its own company again, no longer under the stern control of Microsoft. Bungie has more control over their stuff, which I would fathom also includes the amount of marketting. They may choose to pull back on marketting it. Hypothetically speaking. It's possible.

I don't know if there'll be as much hype, but I bet it'll be hyped as much as possible.

they might be their own company but since halo is a 360 game iam sure microsoft would "generisly" pay for the ads to make a -blam!- load of money

Well, it will undoubtedly have the same, if not more marketing hype than Halo 3 did.

prequels are NEVER more successful and im talking about gaming in general
In a sense I agree, but I think Reach will be at least equally as successful as Halo 3. Halo 3 has the most dedicated community I've ever seen, and there are still more players online at any given moment than most games when they first launch. I think they can definitely count on %99 of the players who still play halo 3 regularly to buy it, not to mention they will pick up more players and get back some old players with ODST.

With the amount of fans they have picked up just since Halo 3's launch, there is already a huge base of people who will buy this game. Then add on top of that all of the new people they can bring in with marketing and I'd say it will do equally as well, if not more so.

To get back to the OP tho, I'd say it will have more people anticipating it, but it won't be as fiercely anticipated as Halo 3 was. But who said I am an expert....
