Legends never die.

I agree. Halo 3 seemed like it could of been rated Teen. I want some grit.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

Something to keep in mind for all the kiddies out there, real soldiers, in real combat scenarios, don't run around being funny and colorful. The Halo series has set one consistent tone, that the Spartans are not only badass, but they are serious soldiers. We'll have to see how ODST is done, but quite frankly having a bunch of "macho" soldiers cursing it up and laughing when they score a kill is kind of dumb, and it cheapens the story.

Gears2 is a perfect example of this, they tried being very heavy in the emotion department of this game, yet you get some of the most B-rated movie lines coupled with un-disciplined remarks and behaviors, these men aren't believable as real characters. It works in that game cause you cannot take it's story seriously. Halo has always been a little better written.

I think Call of Duty:World at War is a realistic example of a more mature game than Gears of War. Gears of War is awesome but its an over the top gore and cursing fest and I do like that a lot but that isn't something even a serious Halo game should contain. In WaW the characters curse at acceptable times and there is some gore. I think Halo:Reach's gore should be slightly aboves WaW's level, including headshots blowing of the head and large explosions ripping a body into pieces. The Marines should have more emotional responses to fellow Marines dying. The game also needs to be less shiny. Dialog by default should not be humorous, if you want humor turn the IWHBYD skull on.

They could certainly stand to make it a little more adult, but that doesn't mean cursing left and right. They could write the story for a more grown up audience and do the same with the content. The events on Reach were anything but pleasant.

I'm talking graphics wise... not cheese ball lines.

I want some more realistic kills and deaths... and a little grit in certain areas wouldn't hurt. I want Halo, don't get me wrong, but I want Halo: Reach, man's darkest hour. Halo 3 was far too fluffy. That's just my opinion though...

Agreed with the OP, the Battle of Reach was far from happy, these were desperate times, that theme was not conveyed in Halo 3. I want a far darker experience, W@W conveyed the sense of war very nicely. The Russian campaign was amazingly pulled off and showed that not just the "Bad Guys" were brutal. It in fact showed that the line between Good and Bad is blurred and most people are a shade of Grey. Gore should be added too, but not Over-The-Top I want it realistic. Humor should be kept to a minimum unless the IWHBYD skull is on. And I think the campaign should switch between both sides, to make the story much deeper and let the player know how both sides felt.

I totally agree with you, but weren't their rumors going around that bungie was creating a darker, gritter halo game? they announced Halo 3: ODST and thats not what was rumored could Halo: Reach be this darker, gorier halo game?

Armor can be blown to pieces. See: heat seeking missile. A wraith ball would certainly be capable of blowing spartan armor into pieces.

This is the average H2 Fanboy.
Xfire: JacobGRocks.
50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Get something like gears of war or UT3. Also, overseas, they dont use M, just 16+ (what halo is rated) and 18+ (which stuff like gears or GTA is rated). And besides, it will probably have the same content as Halo 1/2/3 anyway.

Bungie, make this a true mature rated game! I want darker and grittier graphics, more gore, dismemberment, and even a f-bomb here and there. I want to see energy swords piercing through bodies and spartan lasers disintegrating players! Players should be ripped to pieces when hit by Wraith rounds, not merely tossed a couple of feet! Throw in some brutal assassinations and melees as well such as cracking the enemy's neck/spinal cord from behind or shoving a flying knee in their ribs as a new melee move.

In other words, Halo: Reach should have that same vibe that those Halo: Arms Race clips had.

go and play some GoW

Like I said GoW is really over the top. No shotgun would blow a person into 500 pieces. This isnt about which is a better game even though i think GoW is.

Technology has nothing to do with it. It isn't possible.

when the spartans get hit by spartan lasers the are engulfed by a white red outlined flash. you see there armor crumble into nothingness and then you see there skeletons slam into the ground.

would that not be the coolist?

  • 08.04.2009 8:52 PM PDT

Gore just isn't halo.

R.I.P. Halo 2
11/9/04 - 4/15/10

I don't want darker grittier graphics. Halo is one of the only damned shooters that actually has beautiful environments. Almost every other shooter has the three d's: dirt, dust, and dark. I'm sick of it!

  • 08.04.2009 9:31 PM PDT

Im the best of the best and better than the rest....

Why would you want to ruin the halo series. By turning it into a halo universe gears of war game. Halo as always been uniuqe with the M rating which makes me take the game more seriously than i would with corny GoW. Besides Spartans are to disciplend to be cussing they get the job done with very little words spoken

  • 08.04.2009 9:33 PM PDT

This is so immature. (Oh yes, very ironic).

You don't need all that stuff to make a game fun.
