Subject: Do you think Halo 3 ODST should carry the 3 title?

There is a certain point of tolerance that should never be reached.

Basically, I don't see how this game is an expansion.

It really feels like a whole new game.

Firefight and Free Roam Single player = totally new OP awesomesauceodoom.

I think it should be called Halo: ODST.

Or Halo 2: ODST.

Or Halo 2.5

Or Halo 2. 3333333333333 (Because the slipspace even takes place about a third of the way into 2)

Or Halo: New Mombasa Slipspace Event where you play as an ODST looking for his squad.

But what do I know?

Come back when signatures have a use.

I agree with just Halo: ODST. But the other ones seem kinda silly :P.

Get in the flask!

yeah... its because it contains half halo 3 maps... not only that but cheif is just heading off to go and do the quest from the halo 3 campaign

Don't take life too seriously, no one gets out alive anyway.

Australia

I like it just the way it is, and so does bungie :) (trust me, i bet they have thought of this much more than we all have)

It runs on the Halo 3 engine, and contains the Halo 3 multiplayer.

It runs on a "polished" Halo 3 engine. That alone is a good enough reason for the "3" in the name. However, I wouldn't be surprised that a reason is also to stop people stupidly calling it "Halo 4".

The person who said participating is important, not winning, obviously never won anything.

Just leave it as Halo ODST better

I like Halo: ODST but they put the 3 in because of disc one: ODST, and disc two: Halo 3.
Halo 3 + ODST = Halo 3: ODST

It carries the 3 title because it's an expansion of Halo 3 - therefore it shouldn't be given a name indicating its a whole new game on its own.

It uses the same engine as Halo 3 and looks pretty much the same in terms of graphics and art style. As well as this, most things are the same, including enemies, weapons and modes (aside from Firefight and the pistol/smg) and most important of all - the multiplayer is EXACTLY the same.

What kind of true sequel/prequel or successor has exactly the same multiplayer as the game before?

I think that its the most sensible name considering the halo 3 multiplayer
Master Chief is pimpin'

Two makes there more than speakers.

I don't think it should have 3 in it because it's not really part of halo 3.

I think it has the 3 because it began as a simple expansion of Halo 3, but has since grown into a full-on game in it's own right. Personally, I like Halo ODST better, but they've spent so much time marketing it as 'HALO 3 ODST' that I doubt they could change it now even if they wanted to.

  • 08.05.2009 5:32 AM PDT

Ditto Kirby

Well it uses the halo 3 engine, and has the same multiplayer

  • 08.05.2009 5:37 AM PDT

No, the game IS a halo 3 expansion.

Bungie Compares it to Warcraft 3: The frozen throne

its a different version of the same game.

"'Tis better to be silent and be thought a fool, than to speak and remove all doubt."

That makes perfect sense now that you say that. The Frozen Throne could have been a standalone game, but because it ran on the exact same engine and was a direct spinoff, they tagged the 3 on there.

While, Halo: ODST probably suits the game more now, the thing about Halo 3: ODST is the constant reminder to people that "Hey! We're using the Halo 3 Engine, okay?"

Everyone just calls it ODST anyways, so really it's no big whoop.
