Hey all.
As we all know, technology is improving every day. Computers are getting faster, games are being made more realistic, and the capabilities of all tech are increased.
So, that got me thinking: What if Reach's multiplayer was large-scaled, say 50 players? I'd think of it as something like Resistance, Fall of Man. One team are the Covenant, trying to eliminate the human resistance on the planet. The other team are the humans, defending whatever it is that needs defending.
Obviously, the teams will force players to be certain members of each armarda.
The Covenant
- Elites. Main infantry, move at normal speeds. Carry standard issue Covenant weapons. Spawn with plasma grenades. Very skilled with vehicles.
- Jackals. Snipers, move faster than average. Come equipped with a Beam Rifle and a sidearm. No access to grenades. Can only ride in vehicles. Low health.
- Hunters. Anti-armour, move at slower speeds but deal immense damage. Also have more health than all Covenant classes. Come equipped with fuel cannons. Can only be transported with Phantoms.
- Brutes. Demolitions, move at normal speeds. Carry Brute shots (anti-vehicle) and Spikers (anti-infantry). Spawn with firebomb and spike grenades. Can use vehicles.
- Drones. Scout units, move at high speeds, with very little health. Capable of flying for short periods. Can only be transported by Phantoms. Can also repair vehicles.
- Zealot Elite. Anti-everything. Moves the same speed as Elites, and jumps just as high. Uses grenades, but has a modified Carbine as their primary, and an Energy Sword as their secondary. Can resist slightly more damage than Elites, but cannot use vehicles as effectively.
- Pilot Elites. Carry Plasma Rifles and Spikers, and are the only units that can fly Phantoms.
- Gauntlet Jackals. Support unit. Carry Gauntlets, and thus move slowly. Carry Carbines and Plasma Pistols, but cannot use Carbines with the Gauntlet equipped. Have the same health as snipers, but the shield can block fire.
Humans (UNSC)
- Basic Marines. Main infantry. Carry Assault Rifles, frags, and Scoped Magnums. Can use all UNSC vehicles.
- Demolitions Marines. Demolitions/Close-Combat experts. Carry Rocket Launchers and Spartan Lasers, and move very slowly with heavyarmour. Can only be transported by Pelicans.
- ODSTs. Specialists. Carry Battle Rifles and Magnums, along with being slightly more agile and resistant to damage than Marines. No access to grenades.
- Spartans. Anti-everything. Moves the same speed as ODSTs, and jumps a little higher. Uses grenades, with a Battle Rifle as their primary, and a Shotgun as their secondary. Can resist slightly more damage than ODSTs, but cannot use vehicles as effectively.
- Pilots. Carry Magnums and SMGs. Have the same health and speed as Basic Marines, but are the only class that can pilot Pelicans.
- Sniper. Carries a Sniper Rifle and a Magnum. Faster than average marines, but has far less health. Is very agile, and can drive all vehicles but the Pelican.
- Recon Marine. Scout unit. Fast, low health, and is very agile with much greater jumping abilities than all UNSC units. Carries a Battle Rifle and a Scoped Magnum.
- CQB Marines. Suicide units. Carry Rockets and SMGs, with very high levels of health, and a low speed. Can only ride in vehicles. Can repair vehicles.
Vehicles
- Phantoms. Carry 16 players (one pilot, gunner, two turretsmen, and 12 passengers.)
- Ghosts.
- Spectres.
- Shades.
- Wraiths.
- AA Wraiths.
- Pelicans. Carry 16 Players (one pilot, two gunners, turretsman, and 12 passengers.)
- LAAG Warthog.
- Transport Warthog.
- Mongoose.
- Scorpion.
- Gauss Warthog.
The Objective?
Siege
Humans: Defend the city's main structures from Covenant attacks, while also pushing forward to eliminate the opposing forces, and destroy their bases.
Covenant: Attack the human city and capture the key buildings, while defending their own bases.
It's basically Territories, only once a building is captured or destroyed, it becomes a neutral area.
CTF
Simple: One team defends an objective, while the other team tries to capture it. UNSC defends a communications pack, while the Covenant defend the attack co-ordinates.
Assault
UNSC defends a large military base. If the Covenant get their bomb into the base, it's game over for the humans. Likewise, if the UNSC gets their bomb into the Covenent stronghold, kaboom.
VIP
Each team has a General. The Generals must be kept alive for long enough to be evacuated by an AI pilot. Once they reach the evac zone, they must be defended by the rest of the team. Once they are extracted, they respawn as regular players. Next to die becomes the General.
Good ol' Slayer
First to 250 kills. Good luck.
Teams
25 vs 25 seems like a good number to deal with the carnage, but obviously a large map will be needed.
Maps
Covenant bombing sites - newly attacked cities which must be protected from the Covenant.
UNSC-fortified cities - cities which are currently untouched by the Covenant.
Review
Overall, the game would play a lot like Frontlines: Fuel of War, only you cannot reclaim bases. It would also be like ArmA 2, with the classes and vehicle options.
Of course, it would still be good if it was just Spartans versus Elites.
Thoughts?
