Subject: I wouldn't be surprised if we could fly a pelican in game.

The name's Ian, Game Designer at Whisper Game Studios, very off-and-on Bungie.net visitor and avid Bungie fan overall. Message me if you wish.

Mickey seems to be hyped up as some wonderful pilot in the ViDoc and the Field guide. I was thinking about what if you found a pelican's black box as a flashback item and it was a peli that Mickey happened to need to pick up some marines and you could drive the peli to waypoints and what not. Could make for a nice way to explore the city.

I know I've made posts against speculating so I made this thread to ask:

Is there any info contradicting such thoughts?

Contradicting information...Hmmmm...Maybe the fact that we've never been able to before (outside of mods on the PC versions)...It's something that we're just not supposed to do...It's a rule...Rule 34, i think ;D

Four shots, four kills, reload, repeat. This is the work of a sniper.

if they made the ocntrols like a Helicopter in [Prototype] then yah.

Nah, it'd probably be just like flying a hornet, just bigger.

Rule 34 is if it exists there's -blam!- of it.

Forever praise Lord Jesus Christ, The Father, The Holy Spirit, the one true Lord Almighty God, and bless all forever in His holy name :)

I think your only going to be the Rookie throughout the game.

Did you really just say that? I mean really? You just decided you would come to this forum and not know the absolute basics of the game, yet still attempt to talk about it.

I would love that but i dont think bungie will ever let us fly a pelican.
We had to make our own to fly one in halo custom edition.

[Tah probably, but the Helicopter controls for me were great in [Prototype]
Great in the sense that it does make me realize you're flying a helicopter, not a super-jet. It is a little difficult to do fancy maneuvers in when compared to, say, the Hornets in Halo 3.

I seriously doubt Pelicans will be a vehicle option, even in restricted "one mission only" scenarios. It wasn't said that he was actually a pilot, but that he has the skills to be one. I don't think there's even much "hyping up" of the idea. Buck kinda mentions it offhand.

I'd like to be wrong, though.

I'm going to invade your heart like a barn swallow high on milk chocolate and grandma love.

Fairness is only possible within the limited powers of man. Elsewhere, there is only chance.

Thus I refute thee.

Flying a Pelican would be awesome, but I would be really surprised if we could. Really!

  • 08.05.2009 7:36 PM PDT

yea don't u noe that there would be flashbacks and u could play as other characters?

Yeah I really hope we can fly it. Oh and did you notice the Pelican in the Vidoc was a police pelican.

  • 08.05.2009 7:51 PM PDT

Maybe Dutch's flashback is Mickey and him escsaping in a pelican, with Mickey flying and you playing as Dtuch shhoting out the sides or somehtighn at incoming banshees?

apologies for splelling im drunk.
