FEET FIRST INTO HELL

In Halo 3, if you and ODST is range of a power drain, their armor shuts off and they fall to the ground, will this happen in ODST?

you can't use equipment.... if a brute used one, then you have no shields, so i guess nothing would happen.

  • 08.05.2009 7:38 PM PDT

Never saw it happen either, but there the ODST's can't us equipment and the only Brute equipment confirmed so far is the bubble shield I do believe.

Nothing is going to happen cause you have no shields. Maybe you VISR won't work or you vision with get digital fuzz but it ain't going to hurt you.

J-H

Maybe your VISR and assisted targeting would momentarily shut down or something...i also think there is literally no equipment in ODST so not even a Brute can use it...Otherwise people would moan about how " I KAN C I7 BU7 I KAN7 YOOZ I7!"

Actually, Brutes can still use equipment. Anyway, we've only seen Brutes use Bubble Shields, and I assume they will make use of Regenerators and Deployable Cover. I don't think Power Drainers will be in the game.

Two wise young men meet at the top of a mountain and futally attempt to push each other off while the third, much older, wise man, that was first to the top, watches. After hours of struggle a victor was decided. As the victor turns to him, too tired to fight more, and the wise old man begins his climb on another hill far above the hill he recently occupied. The victor is left bewildered and lacks the energy to climb further. The wise man and the older wise man were now in their rightful places.

Brutes have been seen to use Bubble shields, invincibility, active camouflage, power drain, and the regenerator.

You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

Why would the covenant have power drains? Power Drains are OBVIOUSLY human equipment.

Think about it. A power drain shuts off vehicles and disables shields. it's given to infantry in order to disable shields.

How many humans use shielding? Just the Spartans. And the Spartans aren't numerous enough to warrent the creation of, or deploying of, Power Drains.

Meanwhile, at least 70% of the Covenant use shield tech of some sort.

So, why on earth would the Covenant have Power Drains, and why would they ever use them? On the off chance they run into Master Chief? That's stupid.

  • 08.05.2009 7:45 PM PDT

When did that happen in halo 3. Its a suit buddy, not a robot. if it loses power you wont fall to the ground.

  • 08.05.2009 7:48 PM PDT

you can't use equipment, so they probably will not give bruites equipment either to make it fair.

ODSTs are impervious to power drainers, from what I can tell.
Vehicles however, may be a different story.

Just think about Halo 3 for a minute.

When have you EVER seen a Brute throw a Power Drain. Or any of the Covenant?

I've seen Brutes use Invincibility, Deployable Cover, Regenerators, Bubble Shields, and Cloaking.

Never seen one use a Power Drain.

So, you're not likely to see them in ODST, because the human can't use equipment.

But, you are likely to see all the equipment that the Brutes have used in Halo 3.

In all honesty, I don't consider equipment to be canon; just a gameplay mechanic. It really doesn't make sense that the Brutes would use power drainers, yet they do so anyway. The radar jammer would also be pointless for the Covenant to use because the Master Chief is the only one with a motion tracker.

So yeah, until we hear about in a book or see it in a cutscene, to me, equipment isn't real canon.

Power Drains are Covenant tech, they're only found with other Covenant supplies in Halo 3's campaign. I'm fairly positive that the only UNSC manufacture equipment is the Tripmine.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

You are wrong. Brutes use equipment. A bubble shield is in one of the trailers.

Maybe because they scavenge them from the dead? Also, the Brutes using Bubble Shields are the Captains. Chieftans use Power Drains more than any other rank so expect it fro mthem not a Captain.

Actually, the Brutes use them as anit-vehicle (which gets annoying). So yes, Power Drain will msot likely make a return.

I've seriously NEVER seen a Brute use either the Power Drain or the Radar Jammer.

Also, there are caches of human weapons with SPECIFIC equipment near them. Including Power Drains.

But, again, even if they WEREN'T canon and simply a gameplay mechanic... Why would a Power Drain ever be in ODST? What purpose would it serve? To stop your vehicle? Big deal.

Also, equipment IS Canon.

How do I know this? Read the Halo 3 manual. Page 15, if you please. It says, and I quote:

"UNSC and Covenant forces have recently deployed powerful new combat equipment to all fronts in the war."

Stalkers use Radar Jammer a lot and Brute War Chieftans (the golden ones) use them fairly often on Heroic at least.
