Subject: Power Drain is going to be soo cheap

You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

I've only ever seen the Brute Stalkers use their "Invisibility". Especially since it's all I ever pick up from killing them when they're not cloaked.

And I've always seen the Gold Brutes throw either a Bubble Shield or a Regenerator. Never saw them throw a Power Drain, even while I was using a vehicle.

Why would the covenant have power drains? Power Drains are OBVIOUSLY human equipment.

Think about it. A power drain shuts off vehicles and disables shields. it's given to infantry in order to disable shields.

How many humans use shielding? Just the Spartans. And the Spartans aren't numerous enough to warrent the creation of, or deploying of, Power Drains.

Meanwhile, at least 70% of the Covenant use shield tech of some sort.

WIN!

So, why on earth would the Covenant have Power Drains, and why would they ever use them? On the off chance they run into Master Chief? That's stupid.

The power drain does what it says, it drain power, that means vehicles, shields, visors, whatever! it is made by covies to stop vehicles but it also works against the chief. Im not sure about the regenorator though, can brute shields even recharge?

you can't use equipment.... if a brute used one, then you have no shields, so i guess nothing would happen.

Actually your stamina would stay the same since its not technically a shield. But it might disable the VISR mode

Just think about Halo 3 for a minute.

When have you EVER seen a Brute throw a Power Drain. Or any of the Covenant?

I've seen Brutes use Invincibility, Deployable Cover, Regenerators, Bubble Shields, and Cloaking.

Never seen one use a Power Drain.

So, you're not likely to see them in ODST, because the human can't use equipment.

But, you are likely to see all the equipment that the Brutes have used in Halo 3.

Level Covenant Brute Chieftain with the Rocket Launcher thing(forgot the name) in the beginning can throw a power drain at ya.

sig goes where?

I've seen Brutes throw all sorts of equipment, pretty much all of them.

How Power Drains affect ODSTs remains to be seen, but they can still use them against your vehicles.

Maybe your VISR and assisted targeting would momentarily shut down or something...i also think there is literally no equipment in ODST so not even a Brute can use it...Otherwise people would moan about how " I KAN C I7 BU7 I KAN7 YOOZ I7!"

I don't think any body complained about it in Halo 2 with the Gravity Hammer

No they didn't complain, but loads of people did try and get it. Trying every trick in the book, watching videos on how to get it on Youtube, etc. How do I know this? Well, I was one of those people. Me and my friend always tried to do stuff like that. But it was fun. Especially the Wraith, Energy Sword and Fuel Rod Cannon in Halo 1.

ACTA NON VERBA

I was pretty sure the bubble shield was also human made, it just doesnt fit the covenant aesthetic with its hexagonal structure. Also the regenerator could also be human made based upon its structural similarity to the bubble shield. Which leads me to believe that the equipment that rolls like the power drain, radar jammer, and flare could posibly of covenant origin.

why are you looking at this?

if you notice only the chieftains that have the plasma cannons have power drainers, and they only have them 50% of the time (cycles with flare). also human vehicles are beasts compared to most covenant vehicles, so they would use them for that.

EDIT: it could also have been meant for the elites because they have shields too.

Doesn't matter, if you haven't seen it, then go play more Campaign because obviously you don't play much. Brute throw everything aside from Auto-Turrets and Gravity Lifts.

The Power Drainer can get thrown by a Chieftain.

The purpose of it, I don't know, maybe the Brutes are just dumb to carry it with them in hope to meet Master Chief and kill him. But after all, its EMP is useful against vehicles so "Big Deal"? Yes.

Well I don't think they are going to have power drains because that only works on shields.

Power drains kill Marines and ODSTs. It saps away their health. In Campaign anyway.

Not sure how it would affect the ODSTs in the new game, but presumably it would have some sort of negative effect. It'll at least knock out vehicles.

  • 08.05.2009 10:39 PM PDT

It just occurred to me that the power drain might screw with VISR mode.

It would be a good idea on Bungies part to disable your VISR.
