These are questions we economists must ask each other when big games like this come out. What do you think?

Your friendly and eccentric Sangheili forum-poster. :)

I'd say very close in sales. They're both getting a near enough equal amount of hype from gamers.

i think modern warware 2 will because i see more hype on the game especially with that special edition with those kick ass night vision goggles and it has better graphics than Halo BUT i HOPE that MW2 loses to Halo:ODST b/c personally i would pick ODST instead of MW2 even though im a fan of both

I think they'll be very close when it comes to sales, but I think COD WAW2 might top halo 3: ODST by a few sales.

Why does Bungie put us through such avid anticipation?

I think that making comparison threads is against forum rules.

If your asking about sales, I think ODST will outsell MW2 on the 360, but MW2 will sell more total (obviously) because of being released on multiple platforms. Even if MW2 outsells, I think ODST will see more online play a year or 2 down the road.

Sadly CoD seems to be closing in on the Halo popularity. More and More gamers are moving and playing CoD. (if i had it i'd probably play it more too.) I think CoD will probably outsell ODST.
Go ahead. Flame me. I DARE you.

RAWR!

Well to be honest ODST is an expansion and MW2 is a full game, some people might go into gamestop or whatever and say:
gamer "I like halo...how much is ODST?"
clerk "Well its $60 but you should know it is just an expantion of the story..."
gamer "Oh that sucks, ok just give me MW2 that has multi-player right?"
clerk "yes..."
see what i mean? a lot of people might not know what it all comes with, and if they dont have xbox live then $60 for a story and firefight isnt worth $60 how often would you even play the new maps or use forge if you were by yourself.

I think ODST might jump ahead for a bit, just a feeling.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

Both will be close in sales because both are highly anticipated games with established followings. I myself have pre-orders down for both games.

I like brain, so I flirt with a whole bunch of nerds.

Modern Warfare 2 will definitely outsell ODST. MW2 is being released on two consoles, PC, and is the most anticipated sequel since Halo 2 or Gear 2 (depends who you are). MW2 has fans that wouldn't play Halo if it was given to them, while there are many Halo fans that will buy both.

Well, I'm a traitor to Bungie.

I honestly think that MW2 will end up doing much better than ODST in sales.

This is mostly because a large chunk of the Halo Community is refusing to buy ODST because they believe it to be a rip-off.

MW2 on the other hand has it's legions of fanboys from the original coming back for more with no major complaints. (So Far.)

All of the Special Edition MW2 with Night-Vision Goggles have sold out in UK, and is expected to sell out in America soon.
I personally think that both games will get good sales, as both CoD and Halo have two good games once they both come out. (If you exclude Cod5, thats not made by the same company as CoD 4.)

Don't be that guy.

I think it'll be very close in sales. Maybe MW2 will be a bit ahead, but I'm seeing a lot of hype for both games.

If you read the forum rules you would know.

Peace through superior firepower.

CoD has not upgraded graphics much since CoD 2. I have followed the games since CoD 2 for the regular X-Box. How can anyone say CoD has better graphics? It doesn't. The story is way too under-developed. They don't follow the same story for 2 games straight. MW2's demo didn't look that good. It's all beginner stuff in the field to add that stuff. The particle effects are less than satisfactory, and the new maps for CoD: WaW have been in development for a very short time, where Halo 3's DLC is always being made better for months before release. Oh, and CoD is by no means original in any sense.

Not exactly. Cod4 vastly outsold H3 and it came out AFTER it. Combine that with the fact that ODST is merely a severely overpriced expansion pack and I believe the answer is clear. MW2 will EASILY outsell ODST. I believe by 2010 it will have sold more copies and I'd be willing to put money on it.
