As a preface to my little description I will clearly state this: After reading through these forums I, no less than anyone else realize that Bungie needs to keep a classic mode of Multiplayer in Halo: Reach because if they don't there will be teeming hordes of whiners who only want Halo 3 with better graphics and a couple new guns. Because of this I am proposing this one new game mode. To people who say "Halo isn't CoD" shut up right now. This has nothing to do with Call of Duty. It is an attempt to make multiplayer feel as much like Halo as possible. If you say its not supposed to be like Call of Duty then that is a contradiction in terms.
WAR
WAR is a species based multiplayer experience based on the Halo universe and the battle of Reach, in which Humanity struggled to defend their land based generators powering their orbital MAC Cannons to keep the covenant at Bay. Much thinking has been done in order to keep the species balanced and most importantly fun. Note this game note isn't about balance, MLG, or anything else of that matter, it is purely about FUN. Making you feel like you are in a true Halo battle.
Classes and Races
Humanity
ODST
ODST are the most elite of Humanities soldiers. Everyone is extremely experienced and excellent at the art of war. ODST have slightly more armour than Marines but are less in supply, however they also have the ability to drop in Orbital Drop Pods.
ODST Specs
-Moderate Armour, no energy shields
-Can start the game with any one class one human weapon and one class two human weapon
-Has the ability to drop in orbital pods anywhere on the map, can drop in a safe zone, or straight into combat.
-Each ODST has 10 lives (the lives system is still in consideration)
Marines
Marines are the general soldiers, some are new, some are old, but all of them carry a weapon that they are ready to fire.
Marine Specs
-Poor Armour, no energy shields
-Can start the game with any two class one weapons
-Spawns at controlled bases
-Each Marine has 15 lives (the lives system is still in consideration)
Spartans
Spartan's are some of the most Elite warriors humanity possesses they are fast, strong, well equipped and the best trained of arguably any unit in the Halo universe. So the question is... how do you make people not want to be Spartans? Well, Spartans are very low in Supply, so ONI has the Spartans in every battle not just fighting, but attempting to complete objectives. You will see this more when I outline possible game types.
Spartan Specs
-Excellent Armour, Energy Shields
-Can Start with any 2 class 1 or class 2 human weapons or 1 of those and 1 class 3 weapon
-Spawns inside controlled bases
-Has the ability to sprint at up to 50km/h for up to 100m
-Each Spartan has 5 lives (the lives system is still in consideration)
The Covenant
Elites
Elites, or Sanghelli, are the commanders and leaders of the Covenants armies. They are strong, well equipped and dangerous. Each Elite has two AI grunts to command, the downside? Grunts are loud and give away your position, you can leave them behind if you want, or let them come with you for extra fire power. 1 Grunt has a plasma pistol, 1 grunt has a needler.
Elite Specs
-Great Armour, energy shields
-Can start the game with any two class one or two covenant weapons
-Spawns inside Covenant Controlled Bases
-Possesses an invisibility ability
-Has two grunts it can bring around with it
-Each elite has 5 lives (the lives system is still in consideration)
Jackals
Jackals are mercenaries and pirates, hired by the covenant empire for the most part to fight for them. They are excellent snipers and small targets, they also have arm mounted shields.
Jackal Specs
-Poor Armour, wrist mounted energy shield
-Can start the game with any two class one Covenant weapons
-Spawns at controlled bases
-Each Jackal has 15 lives (the lives system is still in consideration)
Brutes
Brutes are large angry, powerful apes mixed with some kind of Predator straight from hell. Brutes have the most strength of any unit along with the ability to go into rage mode when their shields die, which doubles their strength, speed and jumping ability, the downside? The can no longer use any weapons.
Brute Specs
-Decent armour and energy shields
-Can Start with any 1 class one covenant weapon and any one class 2 covenant weapons.
-Spawns inside controlled bases
-Has the ability to rage, doubling speed, jump and strength at the cost of the ability to use weapons.
-Each Brute has 10 lives (the lives system is still in consideration)
Weapons
Now that the classes are shown I will show how the weapons are classified. Since some weapons are more powerful than others they have to be classified, I will do it this way and it corresponds with the species and classes.
Class 1 Weapons
Human
Assault Rifle, Battle Rifle, Pistol, SMG
Covenant
Plasma Rifle, Plasma Pistol, Needler, Spiker, Covenant Carbine
Class 2 Weapons
Human
Shotgun, Sniper Rifle, Stanchion Railgun
Covenant
Beam Rifle, Brute Shot, Energy Sword, Mauler, Gravity Hammer
Class 3 Weapons
Human
Spartan Laser, Rocket Launcher, Machine Gun Turret, Flamethrower
Covenant
Fuel Rod Gun, Plasma Cannon
Possible Game Mode
Generator
Generator is a game mode of WAR where the humans have to defend an Orbital MAC Cannon Generator from the Covenant, both sides start with three different bases, one of the UNSC's bases is a MAC generator. The objective in this game mode is to protect the MAC Generator (so the Spartans have to focus on defending the MAC generator) along with capturing the opposing sides bases. The teams are sizable, up to 16 against 16 players.
The game is won when a team gets 100 points.
Points are scored By:
For Humans
-An ODST gets a kill, human team gets 1 point.
-A Marine gets a kill, Human team gets 1 point.
-A Spartan gets a kill inside the MAC Generator Zone, Human team gets 2 points.
-If the MAC Generator is Destroyed and a Spartan Gets a kill, human team gets 1 point.
For Covenant
-An Elite gets a kill, Covenant gets 1 point.
-A jackal gets a kill, Covenant team gets 1 point.
-A Brute gets a kill, Covenant team gets 1 point.
-The MAC Generator is destroyed, Covenant gets 25 points.
Anyways this I feel would feel a lot like an actual Halo battle and be realistically balanced. I would love to play a game mode like this, what about everyone else?
Please note this isn't taking away your silly Spartan killing Spartan mindless fun, it is just adding an alternate mode when Halo multiplayer finally actually feels like Halo, and most importantly is fun.
