I don't want Brutes to appear in Reach. The Elites are superior combatants. They provided better challenges than Brutes. Why not have both?
Admitted, the Elites and Brutes in Halo 2 and 3 were morons, but the way the Elites behaved in Halo 1 showed great promise. If they act more like they did in the novels, it would be great...
If we are to have both races in Reach we should see a clear difference not only in weapon technology but in tactics
Elites should act as they did In Halo CE, in Halo CE the Elites main tactic was to create two waves of troops, one wave was made up of a few Elites, while the other was a mass of Grunts and Jackals that would attack and flank you on two sides. Now in Reach they should incorperate the drones into the mass wave or an arial wave. Also the Elites should stick with the sleek and highly advanced Covenant guns Like the Carbine, a Halo CE PR, and a new dual wieldable Needler. and the elogant sword of course
Brutes on the other hand should be that pushing horde of barbarians, moving in a pack, using big guns with spike projectiles and the brute shots. Brutes in Halo 3 were a threat mainly because their guns were ineffective the only effective weapons were very close range like the Hammer and Bruteshot, the spiker, and mauler on the other hand could stay as a brute sidearms, but in all honesty the Brutes need some sort of Spike Riffle and maybe a Spike Sniper that would give them some mid long range, not keeping them restricted to close combat, the Brutes should also use the Grunts differently than the Elites, Brutes should canon fodder the Grunts, use them as meat shields, Brutes could possibly throw the Suicide Grunts. Overall the Brutes could be more barbaric and so should their weapons. I just don't like the brutes using all these little guns or using the sleek Covenant guns that seems to go against their way of life
on another note: You think the Prowler would shoot spikes instead of plasma
Hmm, good idea, I forgot that the elites attacked in waves, all I remembered was that elites were only good at dodging, and coming up to you face to face.
The brute AI were perfect in Halo 2, (at least on higher difficulties) while they can really throw a grenade at a long distance, they lacked attacking in waves.
The elites were pretty good in Halo CE, they were deadly with plasma rifles, and in those death wraiths, while challenging in ghosts, they sucked when it came to using needlers, besides that, I dont really understand the concept of 80% of elites carrying grenades, but never using them.
In Halo 2, the tradition of barely using grenades continues, but with half of them single wielding the plasma rifle, (now with slower projectiles) they became pushovers to casual gamers, As for the sword elites, they have some good swordplay, but they slowed down for some reason. For positives, they are pretty good with the Carbines, and with Duel wielding.
In Halo Reach, all elites that single wield should use their grenades, not at a spamming rate like the grunts, (except for the spec ops elites of coure) but at least use them from time to time, as for weapons, unless the Plasma rifle returns to being the Halo CE variant, they should stick with Carbines and Particle Beam Rifles, or any other two handed weapon when single wielding. When they wield a dual wieldable weapon, make them duel wield!
As for the Sword Elites, they should move fast enough to make you panick at the sight of them, like halo ce, and when a Ultra/Zealot becomes provoked, they should immediately draw their sword as they drop their weapon, or else they simply give you a free melee to their spine.
