Lately my usage of Halo 3 has been dwindling. Partially due to it's less than rewarding XP system. Now, I don't see myself getting any better at the game and don't really associate a players rank with their actual skill. I'm cozy as a grade 3 colonel, and shrug it off when people chirp me about my "noob stripes". I've played generals who play like toddlers, and grade 4 colonels who play like pros.

I hate to do it, but I can't help but bring up the COD 4/5 EXP system which is mostly associated with your actual game performance (ie: not just being in the top three places or on the winning team) I was just wondering if anyone else had some food for thought with respect to what they would like to see as far as ranking and exp are concerned with Bungie's final forray into the Halo universe before Microsoft has their way with the franchise like a drunk cheerleader at a kegger.

Also, if you were promoted and rewarded for your actual in-game performance it might eliminate boosting.

thanx!

CoD's rank system shows time played. I would like to see something similar to CoD's rank system but you would lose points for deaths, betrayals, losing objectives and losing the match. You would gain points for kills, assists, medals, capturing objectives, winning the match and being MVP. The point gains would be greater than the point loses. It would be set up so someone with neutral stats on a losing team can still gain some experience,

Legends never die.

Nice post. I agree 100%

I'm a Field Major and I regularly sweep the floor with Colonels and Brigs. There's a lot to be said about a ranking system when your actual "Rank" doesn't reflect your actual skill.

Ars gratia artis.

All I know is I love the ring of the words "Strike Commander" and refuse to skill up to a 40 because of it. If they could still provide a way to sit pretty at a nice title, reward for individual performance, keep matching you with those ranked near you, and eliminate the need or desire for a second account, I would be a very happy man.

I have no proposals on how to go about it (Trust me, I'm not the brain you want behind that project.), but I'll leave it to the more logical thinkers.
