PLEASE NOTE: I UNDERSTAND THERE IS A HALO: REACH WISH LIST THREAD. THIS THREAD IS TO REPRESENT MY OWN IDEA OF A NEW VEHICLE.

Now, before you even think of commenting, please do not post any of the following:

What type of name is the crocodile?
Thats stupid!
Get off the forums. Your idea stinks.
Terrible, I would never drive that thing!

So, I have thought up that there might not be any new vehicles in Halo: Reach. But I thought id the Elephant was never used in campaign in H3, Bungie should create a new, updated version of the Elephant, a mix of the Elephant and a warthog. And I came up with the Crocodile.

The Crocodile is going to have a reduced speed of a normal Warthog, and a increased speed of a Elephant. It will look similar to a Halo 3 Troop Warthog, but will have a 5 man cargo load, can carry Spartans for multi-player, and the top of the hog where the troops & spartans will sit will be covered. On top of the metal barrier protecting the troops will be a one - man - operated Double Barreled Gauss Cannon. The trooper who operates the cannon will pop out of a small hatch and then take control of the cannon. For the Driver/Pilot, and the Passenger, there will also be more to offer. For the passenger, there will be a 50. calibre Machine Gun. For the driver of the Crocodile, they may drive as if driver a normal Warthog, but similar to the Ghost, there will be a 5 - second boost for the Crocodile, for example getting up a tough hill, or a boost for a big jump. If the driver presses LT, they can open the back of the Crocodile as if they where opening a trunk of a car. The troops can then jump out of the Crocodile and prepare for battle after the back of it opens. Before the troops/Spartans jump out, they can take a selection of weapons, as if in a Pelican. As for Hijacking, it will be the same as if the Croc were a Hog. Troopers may be sniped/killed if the back is open. Well, that basically finishes it.

Thanks for reading! Post your comments, please!

So it's kind of like a UNSC APC? I like it!

What type of name is the crocodile?

No. Seriously. I know the UNSC name their vehicles after various animals, but usually those animals relate to the vehicles. The Warthog has little tusks on the front, and moves around quickly. The Elephant is huge and slow. The Hornet flies and packs a sting.

I don't get how a transport vehicle would be related to a Crocadile though. Just saying.

I don't think the vehicle would work either. First off, nobody would put their entire team into it, because putting all your eggs into one basket is very stupid from a strategy perspective. All that would happen is that one guy drives, one guy guns, and bam, you got a gauss hog, albeit slower, but its essentially a large tank.

A large tank that is waiting to be lasered. Yet another reason why nobody would ride in it. And the riders are invunerable from infantry fire? Sounds pretty broken to me. Nobody is going to survive long enough with that gauss cannon around (which might I mention is a broken weapon already) to hijack the gunner, which seems to be the only method for people to take out the vehicle from a spawn point.

If you were actually trying to design a millitary weapon, would you want something like this? Sure. But for a videogame where you are trying to balance the sandbox? No, this will not work.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

A double barreled gauss cannon would be too powerful.

Maybe give it a grenade launcher instead, like the Halo 2 brute shot but with the Halo 3 brute shot's damage and ROF.

If the game is going to be like the Halo trilogy then I agree with you, but for all we know the gameplay will be totally different. However the boost idea for the vehicle should go I think. I also think it would be cool and more fitting if it didn't have a 'Hog front and was an open topped half-track. And as for a new name, how about... oh idk Buffalo? Lol, how about a little help with a new name?

What happens when the driver is hijacked and there are still people in the back and if the hijacker opens the back he might send alot of enemys to attack his allies but if he doesn't then the people in the back could be stuck in there for the rest of the match.

Killtacular suicide by driving it off a cliff?

javelin

The only problem is that it might be slow for them to get out of it if they have to open the door and select a weapon. It should be open and players should be able to jump in and out like a normal hog. And a double barrel Gauss cannon and 50. calibre machine gun might be too powerful, it should probably be just one or the other or just make two version like the two versions of the Warthog. It can't be a later version of the Warthog or Elephant if Halo Reach is going to take place before Halo 3. It is a good idea for a new type of vehicle though.
