Loving Halo since #1

I have preordered ODST and realized that there will be a midnight release (i'm Australian, so it's at EB Games). What is so important about the midnight release? Is it just the sellers getting copies of ODST to hand out to buyers, but extremely early, or is there more?

Tis for those people who want to nerd it up on the Xbox as much as possible. Personally I have never been to a midnight release in my life and think it's silly. Sleeping is much more fun guys, take a break from Halo 3 and try it.

Personally I love standing in line waiting to get my hands on this beautiful plastic case. Real fans from way back understand, remember Halo 2? Remember the police escorting people to their cars so they werent jacked of their Halo 2 disc? lol.

Alot of fun is meeting other fans, sharing stories of multiplater trials and tribulations, storyline mysteries and what's to come.

Plus I wanna get my frag on asap because I took the 21st 22nd 23rd and 24th off for ODST, and my girlfriend...vacation.

Wow, people do that over a game... sad?

It's just all about getting your hands on the game first.

Sounds like a bunch of Justin Bieber wannabes in here. I bet you all wear skinny jeans too.

So you can play it as early as possible? Im just going to buy it the next day, not even pre-order...

That's kind of a loss... You mind as well take Sargent Johnson.

Check Out my FileShare.
I was once on Bungie Faves. (Feb.7-15)
I'd like to know why I can't see the signatures of others of myself on the forum. I have made favs once, 7777 campaign kills, and I helped bring modders down when they were at their strongest

I am a Halo fanboy. Nuff' said

Yeah, stop insulting thieves.

I think the midnight release get them a bit of publicity. Aka: *burp fart drunk vomit* oooh people I buy what they buy. It's basic stuff.

Typing in random letters = somewhat coherent username!

People like to stay up, get drunk, and complete campaign in one go.

Don't you want to be one of the first ones to ever play the game?

Its like explaining a phobia to someone, they have it or they dont get it. i.e. the need to go to midnight releases

Lets put it metaphorically, Halo is basically cocaine for me, and lets say its like my dealer getting some import from Cuba that is the best stuff ever, and I have not had cocaine in a year and I am addicted to it.
Metaphorically, of course.

You face an opponent who has never known defeat, who laughs in foreign tongues at your efforts to survive. This is Reply suicide.

A midnight release? I don't know.

I got both Halo 2 and Halo 3 AFTER midnight. There were no midnight parties here, and there were no "lines" to wait in. The stores had the games well before midnight, but started selling them at midnight.

For Halo 2, me and my friend woke up at 3 a.m. to go buy it (on a school night, he drove, I slept). I tossed my money down for it and we didn't even play it until I got off work the next day (we had both promised to NOT PLAY IT until I got home from work).

For Halo 3... I scrimped and saved $70 just so I could buy it. I set my alarm for 2 a.m. and went to bed. There was nobody there and still plenty in stock. I laid down my cash and got the game. After that, I went home, played the first level only, and then went to bed.

With ODST... well, I preordred it online. So, I get it when I get it. Though, I do plan to take some time off to play it. Mix it up a bit and spend some time away from work (which gets more dull by the day) and play a game.

Midnight release? I don't care. Week off to play the game? Sounds fun.
