Back to the dust. The aura could be caused by dust surrounding the planet and reflecting sunlight from any direction. A similar aura is present around Reach as you pan by the planet. The only issue is, the rings that form around planets are primarily composed of dust particles and ice caught in orbit around the planet. However, if there is a cloud of dust present around the planet, then a ring could not also have formed while leaving behind such a large quantity. No other ringed planet in the galaxy has any remnant dust surrounding it.
Here is Saturn
Here is Neptune
As you can see, neither has a cloud of glowing dust. Therefore, the ring surrounding the planet logically cannot be a planetary ring.
Are those real pictures of those planets? No, they are renderings, right?

How do you know that the rings around neptune or saturn aren't like the one you see in the Reach announcement trailer?

Anyways, this was seen along time ago, and if the planet in the trailer is Reach, (the big one), then a "Halo ring" shouldn't be in the background.

Thats definitely not a halo ring. Those are just planetary rings like what Saturn, Uranus, and Jupiter have. If you don't believe me, look closely on the planet and you can see a faint shadow across what would be the equator of a planet that has a tilted axis (like Uranus). So there you go, no halo ring there.

However, if I'm wrong in thinking there's a shadow on the planet, then it could be a halo ring. I know a lot of people say that humans would've found that ring since they'd be so close to it, BUT couldnt it be possible that a super advance alien race capable of building such structures as the rings could've figured a way to shroud them from other races in the galaxy?

Nukes... Nukes.... NUKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH

If any of you guys have read the books, then you would know that reach was destroyed BEFORE the events of Halo 1. So, this cannot be a halo ring because installation 04 was the first ever discovered. And that one was in Halo 1.

Ninjabag the tea-pirates!

I don't want to join your group.

I see it but it doesn't look like a halo ring.

War, War never changes.

Got my Recon from the Vidmaster achievments, like most.
Reach IS awesome, don't deny it

To all you guys saying that if it was that close to reach then why wasnt it noticed. Its a teaser, a look at things to come, the ring doesnt necessarily have to be next to Reach, its just there as a look at what to expect. By the way i did see this before and thought it was a halo ring.

try looking at it at 23, look carefully and try to see it going around the middle of the planet.

It's cherry, tastes like strawberry, looks like watermelon, and you think it's raspberry just because.

It is definitely not a Halo, they would have definitely noticed that. It's just dust around the planet reflecting the sunlight. Well thought out post though, I'll give you credit for that.
