Back to the dust. The aura could be caused by dust surrounding the planet and reflecting sunlight from any direction. A similar aura is present around Reach as you pan by the planet. The only issue is, the rings that form around planets are primarily composed of dust particles and ice caught in orbit around the planet. However, if there is a cloud of dust present around the planet, then a ring could not also have formed while leaving behind such a large quantity. No other ringed planet in the galaxy has any remnant dust surrounding it.
Here is Saturn
Here is Neptune
As you can see, neither has a cloud of glowing dust. Therefore, the ring surrounding the planet logically cannot be a planetary ring. Are those real pictures of those planets? No, they are renderings, right?
How do you know that the rings around neptune or saturn aren't like the one you see in the Reach announcement trailer?
Anyways, this was seen along time ago, and if the planet in the trailer is Reach, (the big one), then a "Halo ring" shouldn't be in the background.
