I for one believe the planet at the end of halo 3 is reach. I can't think of any other reason Bungie would show that cut scene. BUT I think time travel isn't plausible, it's just not in Bungie's design style. So I was thinking what if Reach played out similar to ODST? You have the Chief wandering the ruins of Reach (not unlike the rookie). He finds clues to events that happened in the attack, you then play a level through the eyes of the 5 guys in the picture. I'm sorry if it's a crazy idea but what the hell there you go.

That is because we are not supposed to know what it is.

"From the Beginning, You Know the End..." Obviously, some how, we'll know Masterchief's fate after playing through and completing the Campaign, probably on Legendary. It may jump back and finish the cutscene with MC or it may reveal what could have happened some other way. I personally think it looks like Reach in the H3 Legendary Ending, but there's some differences pointed out by others between the planets.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

And it shouldn't be told through flashbacks.

You have played neither Reach nor ODST. Your have no idea how it will pan out. Let's wait till ODST comes out to make up tings like this.

Perhaps. I was saying it would work though from a "makes sense" point of view.

ok doont mean to ruin anyones ideas but why would MC need to wonder around reach after the battle? considering if its tied into the books MC went back to reach and already knows what happened so what would be thew point?
