Subject: Halo Reach Infection Re-invention

Halo 3's current Infection Game type is mainly when a player is Infected, they change armor color and have different physical attributes such as speed and gravity. The infected players are not scary and the only scary element they have is the element of surprise if they catch a player unaware.

The closest thing to zombies in halo universe of course is the dreaded Flood, The Flood as introduced is parasitic alien lifeforms which are the bane of both The Covenant and the Humans alike. The Flood presented a dreaded enemy whose sole purpose and intent is to infect all sentient life. We have all seen the infected Humans and Covenants in the campaigns. My Proposal is to do away with the current infection game type color change and when players become infected they change into a flood combat form. Flood Combat forms can present all the options but with the essence of Infection. The prospect of the Flood in multiplayer can present
a exciting and new gaming experience and will truly create a horror aspect in it.

Another change is to replace the current voice of the announcer for the games with the voice of gravemind in Halo 3 or a similar type of voice. Also the Infected have a new diseased HUD to show the feeling of infection. the options for the Game type should have all the old current options but also with a delayed infection option where the immediate players wont present as enemies shortly before the infection starts causing chaos. Also a new weather mechanic should be added to forge or the option the diseased flood mist as seen in campaigns to demonstrate the feel also flood growth spores and other external flood pores should be added.

Other possibilities for the game type are the small infection forms along with the combat forms. a new weapon could possibly be added is the Jackal Shield which can be used to defend against flood types. a new option is the hud radar can be malfunctioning which can provide scarier suspense to the game

Comment and offer ideas and support, hopefully we can have this game type in Halo 3 Reach

Exactly what is needed. At the moment all you see is Spartans and Elites in different colours, which is not at all intimidating, its even comical. What you are suggesting could be a new terrifying gametype, the ultimate of all infections, where the combat forms are a reality and playable. Decent idea, see if we can make any change.

Thats a cool idea, makes the Gametype fresh and new, but it should have more weather options and also maybe when a player first becomes infected it reanimates the dead body starts changing into a flood cb form

I like it. Especially the weather changes. Flood pouring out of a thick fog would be intense.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

They can. In Halo: The Flood, chief is early infected when one breaches the seal between his helmet and other armour.

I think it has something to do with a covenant engineer who saved him, they're neutral although they are in the covenant. But i'm not sure didn't read the books.

I wanted to state something, I looked a a forum post asking about whether the flood should be present in Halo Reach, like -blam!- zombies in COD 5 the flood could be present in only Multiplayer, to correct this problem u can make the games a flashback Date unknown Location unknown can pop at the beginning. I also made a poll for this article so u can vote...

How do we know the spartans Mark IV armor would protect them from flood? For that matter, how do we know they have MJOLNIR Armor at all? This game could be about the innies for all we know.

Bugs in halo reach final game as of 9/2/10

in forge i am trying to make gametypes objectives but all i see is hill markers and flag points. If im trying to make a ctf game variant and i use the capture point and the flag stand and go into custom games. There is always a error saying "map not compatible with gametype" This is not just with ctf but with most other custom game and map variants.
EDIT: this was just a understanding issue that was cleared post-game release

a lot of games have this feature like left 4 dead or gears. if implemented into halo it would reallly expand its lifetime and alot more infection haters would try it out and change there ways

My vision of playing as the small infection type flood would be third person but you would be controlling 20 or so at once.

I've always wanted a gametype that's like Firefight but instead of Covenant forces,it r teh Floodz!
But I thought the Flood weren't discovered during the time of Reach?
