Halo: Heretic or Hero---An Elite's Story
Choose your own destiny

FanFicFactor
Forged in the Flames of Passion, go forth and represent!

Every Halo game, including Halo Wars, has somehow found a way to bring the Flood back/introduce it without contradicting the storyline. Do you think it is possible that they will somehow make an appearance in Halo: Reach? I, for one, would like that. The Flood makes campaign a bit more intense (in Halo CE i did, anyway) and it always leads on to a great deal of backstory. I hope it is implemented.

Discuss.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

ODST doesn't have flood.

Reach should not have flood.

It doesn't fit, and if they spun some new plot hole to explain them, it would cheapen then experience.

There are vast areas of the Halo timeline that have not been filled. You don't know more about Reach than anyone else, so how could you say that it won't fit?

It couldnt fit because when you first encounter the flood in CE that is the first time they are discovered. There would be files on the flood by the UNSC if it had been discovered before, even with no survivors.

that's a lie b/c in Halo Wars (the game) the flood are discovered 20 years before Halo Combat Evolved. And if u read the halo books it is true.

Now, the Forerunner caverns under Reach, seen in First Strike. Doctor Halsey says that they could be massive, extending under most of Reach. What if, in these caverns, there is a Flood containment centre? That would be pretty interesting, it could also bring Sentinels in too.

That would be interesting, let's hope there is something like that in store for us.

You obviously have not played Halo Wars Campaign.

What is true? None of the first 4 books say anything about flood before CE.

What i was saying was that if the flood were on Reach, then Master Chief would have heard about them. I know they existed in the Halo Wars campaign, but i just can't understand that if they are on Reach, how is everyone so suprised when they are seen on Halo CE. And seeing as Master Chief is on Reach even though for a short time, he would understand what the flood is, and i beleive Cortana says something like "What are these" when first encountered.

As Wolverfrog said before, it is possible that they were located in the massive caverns under Reach. If we play as someone other than the Master Chief in a level like that, who is to say you are not a Marine or Spartan fighting down there before ultimately being killed?

Thats a fair point. I just think that, as we know Reach is not a Halo Ring, the flood would not be present there unless somehow Bungie weaves in a story that involves the Flood being transported there from a Forerunner Installation.

See you on the battlefield.

Let's give the flood a rest, I'm tired of flood levels in Halo, they get really tedious after the first playthrough.

Fine for firefight, etc but not more campaign.

Read the book, Halo: Fall of Reach. Flood would ruin the game. IMO

  • 08.07.2009 3:39 PM PDT

Real men use magnums.

just simply from a gameplay standpoint, I really hope not. I'm kinda getting sick of flood levels. In every game there is at least one level that is hell to play through and its always a flood level.

Master Chief was not on Reach during the fight for it, and the flood in Halo Wars are not in UNSC files because their ship, The Spirit of Fire doesn't make it back to UNSC space, at least not before the start of Halo CE.

What if the Flood only was present in the Multiplayer? see http://www.bungie.net/forums/posts.aspx?postID=35674638 about my idea

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

I don't think so but who knows?

I'd be dissapointed that they pull the flood into each of the games, I'd be fine if we just fight Covenant.

The only game where the Flood were well executed was Halo: Combat Evolved. In Halo 2 and Halo 3 however, they were just extra, like they were there just to be there.
