Subject: Is Bungie going to cater to the scrubs?

you are a good translator
Idiot can be a hard language to learn, but once you get it down, everything becomes so clear! The whole world will make sense to you.

I want bungie to cater to the people who want a great single player first, then a well-balanced multiplayer, then little nuggets like Forge, Firefight, ect.

I am sorry, but MLG is a joke.

All it is is a button mashing fest so people who cant talk to girls can feel good about themselves.

That came out harsher then I meant it to, but still.

MLG isn't the joke. The OP is a joke for using the word "scrub" to insult someone who isn't as good at a video game.

No I know.

But most people who say other players are noobs, etc. tend to play a lot of MLG.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

It does need to be more skill based but your'e an ass.
Thats why I hope for options. That way, even if Bungie picks a style that personally doesn't click with you, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy the game.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

3 games a day is for scrubs? I thought that was an average player quota, or an above average player quota.

If you have the time to play over 3 games a day with things like school going on, then really. You need some fresh air.

I am not one to talk, because I use to play well over 3 games on a bi-daily basis. But this summer (surprisingly), I haven't touched video games as often. I bought Battlfield 1943, played that for 4 days, then went on to reading, working out, etc.

Other then the occasional day where I may play Halo 3, or GTA4, or old school Super Mario World (Which by the way, is so freaking amazing! UGH! The nostalgia is overwhelming) Games aren't meant to be played for 10 hours a day, everyday.

Halo 3 is a great balance to casual/hardcore. Obviously the hardcore players have the advantage, they know much more things about the game, and they can easily out BR, out AR, out skill many casual players.

Casual players also have fun doing what they can, why make the game more hardcore and make it more of a challenge to pick up and play?

oh sorry to everyone for using "scrubs" jeez im sooooo sorry i didnt mean to offend anyone. if you want to go play a "party" game go play rock band like a douche bag. and in all honesty i rarely play MLG. i play mostly swat and snipers. and COD takes 0 skill! idk how your saying i play it when i want more of a competition. i got around 35 kills a game in team deathmatch. search and destroy id normally get around 11 or 12. COD takes no skill what so ever.

Man your the scrub OP.

Stop being a complete ass and let everyone enjoy the game.
Agreed he is an ass. But with a game that is so random and not so skill based, the only people who are enjoying the game as much as possible are the "casual" (or whatever you call them) gamers.

If the game was more skill based, like Halo 1, the ranking system would work and bad players would play bad players, average players average players, good players good players, great players great players. So nobody would be getting owned; the bad player who cant aim well is going against someone who cant strafe well.

Everyone is happy if the game takes more skill.

seriously. lets make this game more serious. its stupid them trying to make it good for both the serious players and the guys that play 3 games a day and dont give a -blam!-. lets add a little more skill into the mix. idk how but its not me to come up with the ideas its them. im just putting my two cents in thats all.

Where does he say that he is associated with MLG?? If someone wants to be able to consistently kill people that are of lesser skill than them, shouldn't they be able to?? All that MLG does is make sense.

1. How is Halo 3 a great mix between casual and Hardcore gamers?? If I can shoot someone 3 times, and then they throw a regen or Bubble, how is that good balance?? The scrub gets off with a new life, while the guy that gets him to one shot is left in the middle of the process, waiting for someone to shotty him or sword lunge from 20 feet away. HOW IS THAT RIGHT?

So wait, you think that equipment that ultimately helps the better players is for scrubs?

Are you slow?

Casual players, (players who don't play as much) have a lower chance of knowing where the equipment spawns. They have less of a chance of knowing how to use it. They have less of a chance to know how to use it.

If you don't use the equipment, I would say you should look in the mirror, you might just see a "Scrub".

  • 08.08.2009 7:32 PM PDT

Its fine the way it is is if you want a challenge just get a high level in ranked playlists and dont play social. What we really need is harder campaign mode in games.

How hard is it to accidentally run over a bubble sheild, and press X when you're about to die, negating a legitimate kill for the better player? I'll admit, I use equipment when I have it, but it's because I put myself in a bad position, and it is an out. IMO, people shouldn't be allowed to have a get out of trouble free button. It makes no sense that someone who works for a kill should be denied that at the press of a button. What advantages does the attacker have in that situation? Skill is not a physical entity, it won't make you run faster or shoot stronger bullets.

Oh wait, Colonel Grade 2 with a negative K/D. That explains it...

im 16.

Which means you have no people skills and take your angst on being bullied at school out on "scrubs".

Bungie will never make a game that is takes more skill to play. They are a business and they need to make a profit! So unless you have thick enough pockets to pay for development of a game that takes more skill. Deal With It.

As another 16 year old I find that statement offensive.

We're not -blam!-s, he's just the -blam!-.

lol, yeah.

You should have to HOLD the button to deny them that kill like with every other weapon.

I really hope that was sarcasm. It's not like a better player should get the kill 100% of the time, that wouldn't be fair. The weak guy should have a random chance to kill the guy that's better than him. Ya, that sounds right. Unfortunately, it makes no sense to decent players. Maybe that Captain Grade 3 with a negative K/D has something to do with it...

Unfortunately, Team Killing and Racing are not part of an FPS. Go join the army, or play a racing game.

He said the magical three words that proves he's a troll. Just ignore this idiot, he isn't here to discuss anything.

Furthermore do you really need struggle to find out the answer to "What advantages does the attacker have against someone in a bubble shield?"

For one, the guy is weak, so he won't risk leaving the bubble shield. He is confined to a small, narrow, and predictable space. This allows you to:
A) recharge your shields yourself.
B) close the gap between you and him.
C) establish a better fighting position so you are at an advantage when the shield breaks. Preferably with your team.
D) set up all manner of cruel tricks that destroy bubble shields, including trip mines through the outer shield wall, grav lifts to remove the bubble shield, or better yet, using a power drainer to not only drain your opponents shields but knocks the bubble shield away.

Do I really need to explain to you how to play this game from a strategy standpoint?

I know. I have friends that are Generals. But for someone to make an ignorant statement like that, on these forums, one can assume.
And for the record, I have a positive K/D in Social. Which I actually play.

Denying Halo what sets it a part from other shooters is a crime. If he wants to race in a warthog, then let him -blam!- do it. Halo doesn't need any off-genre spin off cash-ins because it IS damn near every genre. It's more than just a shooter.
