we are most likely not gonna see his face but i think that chances are good we'll hear him talk.

I prefer the nameless Hero. Bungie made Master Chief leave his helmet on so that the player could feel like it was them. The Rookie being largely mute and faceless means we get that same effect, even more so as he is a normal human.

The universe is probably littered with the one-planet graves of cultures which made the sensible economic decision that there's no good reason to go into space--each discovered, studied, and remembered by the ones who made the irrational decision.

The rookie has no voice actor making him a true silent protagonist.

Well if he's silent and faceless, I'm not going to be him for Firefight. He won't say silly things, and I can't take off his helmet, so NO.

My talents include always knowing the wrong thing to say.

Twitter!

However, giving him a voice and face would moreover get across the point that you aren't some badass hero, your a human soldier, on the front line.

I've already read all of the halo books today you stupid nerd. Plus Halo:Fall of reach twice.

Seeing Rookies or Chiefs face would ruin their 'cool' act.

I think that Bungie is trying to make you feel like you are the Rookie by making all his personal information is *classified* and most likely not showing his face. Personally I believe that this is a great tool that they're using (if I am correct) to add to the immersion of the game.

Go Rams and Missouri!

Bungie has already stated that he doesn't ever speak or remove his helmet.

Try one of two things:
- The Search Bar
- Google
I know you're probably not bright enough to work either of those so i will answer your question...It has effectively been confirmed in last week's Weekly What's-Update that you can customise armor variants (as in they are interchangable, like in Halo 3) and i it has been said on this thread that you cannot remove Rookie's helmet so if you use his helmet you will not be able to remove it...

You probably mean Nathan Fillion who was on the Bungie Podcast for 07/07/09...He's the voice actor for Buck, not Rookie.

The rookie won't take off his helmet.

He doesn't say much, to quote the recent ViDoc so I doubt we will hear him talk more than once if even that.
