Subject: can you destory the phantoms in odst?

A wise man once saw a weed struggling to grow under a rock, one month later he returned to see the weed flourishing, only to put the rock back on top of the weed (dooming it), when his his advisors asked why he he simply exclaimed; "That was its fate."

Think.

if they were wouldn't it clog up smaller maps if possible?

The universe is probably littered with the one-planet graves of cultures which made the sensible economic decision that there's no good reason to go into space--each discovered, studied, and remembered by the ones who made the irrational decision.

if its like halo 3's campaign then yes you can. just need a lot of fire power.

"If you push this button. Someone. Somewhere will die.

BUT.

You will, hey wait! Didn't you wanna hear what you'd get first!"

Most likely they would not be destructable in Firefight however. That would make it too simple to take out an entire wave, as enemy caught inbetween lots of debris do not know what they need to do. Rush rockets and win a wave. In campaign however I can see that being totally plausible.

I'm pretty sure we'll be able to drive Scorpion so we should be able to blow them up. What do you mean by smaller maps?

You can kill them in Halo 3 right? You can kill them in ODST for the same reason you can't kill Elites.

Well seeing how the weapons are no more powerful in chief's hands then I would assume the ODST's using the same weapons would be able to kill phantoms

Halo forever!!

TSDFGHH not just radom gibberish.

Yes. If you can in halo 3 you can in this. Being a regular human doesn't affect the power of your explosives so i see no reason why you can't.

  • 08.08.2009 12:57 PM PDT

Photographers are sexy.

Since this uses the same engine as Halo 3, I would assume so. Also as others have already said, I wouldn't expect the scorpion to be any less powerful in ODST than it is in Halo 3.

The sheer amount of firepower you need to down the things could easily wipe out everything it carries, and it'll be near impossible before it's unoaded half is people. I think it likely that it's possible - it'll just be crazy hard.

Actually, it's not as much power as you think. Two rocket clips can wipe it out on legendary if you aim at the blue engines. The explosion doesn't kill most of the enemies for some reason. I've tested this on Tsavo highway a lot with friends. It might even be less rockets, but I know 4 rockets do more damage than a full clip of fuel rod ammo. It's actually quite funny, unless you remove the debris the enemy stands still looking at you. Try it sometime, it's quite fun.

To add on to this, it only takes 4-5 fuel rods to down a phantom if aimed right at the engines.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Maybe. Try the Fuel Rod cannon.

Huh, I've done it plenty of times. It's just me and my bros usual method was using about six/seven scorpion shots (which would wipe out it's entire crew if you waited for them to get out). Guess rockets must be more powerful. Though yeah the way things survive is well random - kill the one on the desert level whilst it's just coming in and the wraith it drops will literally survive falling maybe two hundred meteres +. That is one hard tank.

Though I've never understood when/why you get points. Sometimes I get a thousand, yet sometimes nothing.

Really? Make sure you directly hit the engine, it normally takes me between 2-3 scorpian shells to take her out.

  • 08.08.2009 1:59 PM PDT

That must be it then. I just aim at the body of the phantoms. The engines never really offer themselves as a target, and I didn't know they did any extra damage.

Edit: This is on legendary right?

Reach needs to be patched. It's the truth.

I'm pretty sure you can. Halo3 allows you to blow them up, so as long as you have sufficient firepower, why not?
