Subject: Bring it up to 60fps?

HAIL HALO!

Halos still my favorite FPS but when you play Halo for a while than go to a game with 60FPS (frames per second) its like a roller coaster ride, everythings just smoother. Anyone else want this game to be 60FPS?

Did you know in games and consoles and computers and animations and in all graphics FPS means Frames per Second as well? Seriously, he knows what he's talking about,

I'd rather see 150 FPS, but seeing as that is improbable on a console at this point, 60 sounds good to me! Maybe 80. That would be nice. If my dream of 150 does come true though at least we know we can all say my Xbox runs Halo: Reach. And we can say it to fanboys. : )

Yes please, whenever I play CoD4 and then play Halo 3 after it feels and looks like its lagging horribly, 60fps is soooooooooooooooo much smoother.

150 FPS would be completely pointless. 99.99% of TVs will top out at 60 fps, so you don't need to go above that.

Yes I would like to see 60 fps. Yes I would also like to see people who understand that fps is both first person shooter and frames per second, I'm talking to you USmarine1.

60 fps means smooth graphics which can lead to better gameplay. Gameplay over graphics any day. Also, CoD has by no means bad graphics and the framerate is still 60 fps. Great graphics are very possible while maintaining 60 fps, just look at Forza 3 it looks absolutely amazing and it runs at 60 fps.

When I said 150 FPS I was joking. 100% joking. I know it's not possible now. At some point though TV's will be able to handle it, and games will follow.

Ontopic:

Better FPS may me worse graphics, but only in a give some to take some scenario, You can increase both at the same time, and I would rather have optimum FPS than optimum graphics.

30/40fps is all i need the game to be up to.
You don't want Halo's resolution to be lowered to 600p - like COD MW2, do you?

I thought the environments were very ugly and bland in Call of Duty. Maybe for multiplayer I guess. I don't care about graphics in multiplayer.

(Bungie > 343i)

I second that 30 frames just seems slow anymore.

FPS stands for First Person Shooter and Frames Per Second. Yes, I do think Halo should be brought up to 60FPS.

  • 08.08.2009 4:11 PM PDT

As much as I would like that, the reason that it is at 30 FPS is because it is a smooth frame rate that reduces lag.

I think that 40 FPS would be good.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

What games run at 60 Frames?

  • 08.08.2009 4:44 PM PDT

I don't think anyone actually notices the differences between a solid 30 and 60. As long as there's no hiccups, it doesn't matter.

It's all in peoples' heads really. It's like when people say screen tearing makes a game unplayable. It's usually something you can only notice if you look for it.

it has been comfirmed by microsoft ages ago that ALL 360 games are required to be able to run at 1080p.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

60 would be nice, but I couldn't see it happening without some serious improvements to how match making is run. They would need some dedicated servers or something to be able to run that without some serious lagging, especially since I (along with many gamers) expect Halo: Reach's graphics and physics to be amazing.

Well just because it's rendered at 30 fps doesn't mean the physics run at 30 fps....

You do know that Halo 3 only runs at 640p, right?

Every time you sneeze into an open Febreze portal the boner-tree drive shaft will spin into ketchup. But it doesn't stop at the number two pizza bell, not even close. It continues into the seventy eight minute long pile of green, sobbing cheese trains with no more butter, but more like the steak owed the tin cans some lovin'.

They can all be upscaled to 1080p, but very few are actually rendered at 1080p.

this is definitely false, you can easily tell the difference between a game running at a solid 30 FPS and 60 FPS.

for an example, play COD 4, then after play Halo
you can tell that Halo runs much slower, I remember when COD came out I played it exclusively for about a month, then went back to Halo and thought something was wrong with my game

another good example for comparing is Forza Motorsport 2 (60 FPS) and Project Gotham Racing (30 FPS)

60 FPS would make for the game to run much better.. you don't really notice when only playing a 30 FPS game, but as soon as you switch it's easy to see
