I live in an igloo, it is very cold so I wear a beaver pelt parka over my canucks jersey, I am a professional moose hunter, play xbox on an oil powered TV and ride a horse around my small village which is shared with polar bears. - LOL DIGITAL PH33R FTW

Treyarch's invention of n*zi (it's a blamed word btw) zombies is IMO Call of Duty: World at War's strongest selling point. Call of Duty is argueably Halo's greatest foe, so is Firefight bungie's answer to n*zi zombies? If it is, it would be a bit late because MW2 comes out a month later, but I heard rumors of an alien terrorist mode.

Thoughts?

I doubt alien terrorist mode is there if it was they might of said it by now.

and I guess it is the answer to -blam!- Zombies and Horde for GOW2

Punch a bear in the face.

If you don't know who I am, the feeling is mutual.

Bungie's supposedly had the idea for a Halo Survival Mode for awhile, but couldn't stick it into Halo 3. However, they did have a Survival Mode for a previous game, Marathon, so Bungie isn't being unoriginal and just doing what Epic and Activision are doing.

How can't you look at Halo, a game with so many varied enemies from Drones to Jackals to Brutes, and not think "a survival mode would be awesome"? It was just a matter of time.

The fight has been complete.... now get the cookies!

While we certainly share your enthusiasm for the return, we here at the Bungie.net community are mostly made up of snarky asses and jerks who will ridicule you for making a thread about something revealed months ago. We regret that your innocent intentions will almost certainly be replied with anger and sarcasm, and politely invite you to don your Flame-suit, because you just did the internet equivalent of jumping up the Construct lifts.

Bungie is the one who invented survival mode with marathon.

I was in 5th grade. I popped in the Halo CE disc into the massive, clunky first generation Microsoft Xbox, and wrapped my small hands around the controller that was almost too big for me. Little did I know what I was getting into.

10+ years later, I still look up to my childhood hero, Master Chief, while everyone talks about He Man and Spongebob haha

"Violence isnt the answer, but it sure is the solution"

The sort of game type has been around for a long time. It wasnt treyarch or epic that created the "wave based" style of gameplay.

True that! Bungie just put it into the Halo games a little late.

urgh, i hate telling SO many people this.
firefight was meant for Halo 3 but they didn't have time to put it in.
they tell made a build of firefight about half a year after the release of halo 3, long before COD5 or gears of war said anything about there survival modes! if your still not satisfied with this justification, marathon had a survival mode before ANY of these games. YES, EVEN LEFT 4 DEAD.
please note i do not hate any of these other games (apart from gears of war >:[) i actually LOVE n*zi zombies. YES i DO realize that other games had survival modes BEFORE marathon.
im just so sick of this.

First thing, if the word is -blammed- then don't try to cheat the filter. On-topic: We could say that Zombies from CoD;WaW is a copy of Marathon's survival mode or GoW2's Horde mode...Everyone can say that this person copied from that person...All ideas are unoriginal now-a-days. One more thing: Firefight is, imo, going to be much better than Zombies because it has variation, customisation, gets you achievements, comes with more than one level and is generally not going to bore people half to death.

you realize survival has been around almost since beginning of gaming?

asteroids, space invaders, even pac-man are survival games

it's just had a sudden re-occurrence in games lately.

no... i'd say firefight sounds / looks mor elike horde.... but halo style will be BUKIN AWSOME

  • 08.08.2009 5:06 PM PDT

Nope. Bungie had this idea since before Halo 1. They didn't implement it at the time because of the technology and style of the game.
