I don't know about you guys, but I was pretty dissapointed with the elephant in Halo 3. When I first heard about it before the game came out, I thought it was going to be awesome! I mean, a giant moving fortress, come on! Where can you go wrong? Well... Bungie showed me.

Anyways, here are some ideas of mine about the elephant and how to make it a viable gameplay component and more of a Mobile HQ type vehicle.

1-Put the elephant in missions, and give it the ability to make it over a small hill (it was dissapointing to see the elephant halted by a mound of sand).

2-Elephant ability to repair damaged vehicles that can fit in its holding bay. For example, a damaged warthog drives up, the driver of the elephant, or perhaps a player operating the cranes presses a button, and the cranes go to work, and wah-lah, good as new.

3- There is a radar screen in the elephant, how about someone can sit down at that and get radar coverage of the whole map, and from there, radio out intel to the rest of his/her team.

4-Probably for missions only, but it would be awesome if there was another variation of the elephant: A Miniature MAC Cannon. A scarab killer, it would probably have four hydraulic legs that planted it to the ground before it fired. Essentially, it would be one large mobile gun, with very little or no room for transportation.

5-Make the elephant destructable, but still have it be very, very tough.

6-Possibly give it weapon racks.

Agreed. I was dissapointed with the Elephant to. Possibly make it a little faster to so that it's actually bearable and worthwile to drive?? And yeah I would like to see it in missions. A bit like the second mission on Gears of War 2... AGAIN EXAMPLE PEOPLE!!!

More Control Systems. For example take the base on Zanzibar/Last Resort. It had that cool opening gate. The only thing that peeved me off... Was that you couldn't close it. So say your on a map that's meant to be fairly wide open and there's this chasm. You gap it and try and make your way across the chasm through a bridge. You're just about there when somebody deactivates the bridge and sends you tumbling down to your death. Just something that mix's gameplay up a bit.
Your armour becoming battered and broken as you traverse through war torn plains. Imagine being cut with a plasma sword and being seen with your biofome leaking forth from a gaping wound.


I like this idea, and I would like it if they added more controls, like the bridge you mentioned that were environmental hazards.
For instance, the scarab on Sandtrap, give it a working head and a button, and someone can fire it every now and then and clear out the path that leads through the middle of the map.

However what you suggested is very similar to what is already in halo 3.
And i know its just an example but that invincible achievement would be way easier to get in campaign; it should be: "or in campaign on mythic difficulty"

I dont know about you guys but ive always wanted a game mode thats kind of like campaign except timed and theres no real goal except killing all the covies in the level before a time limit.

what about a multiplayer game like left 4 dead with 4 spartans and just normal grunts, drones and jackels around the place but 6 other people will be special covenant like elites, brutes, hunters etc. and the spartans need to reach a pelican.

I dont know but I think they should put somemore Elite armour in there like they should have the Heritic armour variant in there from H2 and you should have a choice to be a brute or something cuz I was lookin forward being one when H3 came out but it wasnt a choice but ya never know..I think REACH will probably tell you alot more about the halo story then the rest of them did so its gonna be a awsome game.. not that Halo 3 isnt..

1-The jackal shield, duel-wieldable (a lot of people question the balance of using a jackal shield, but I think I've got it pretty well worked out, so if you're a skeptic, ask me and I'll give you my ideas.)

2-The elite jetpack, which I figure would fly like a hornet but slower, and your weapons would be whatever you're holding.

How about having the option to use character models in the campaign. It wouldn't make much difference, but some peole might not like the default choices.

I disagree with a lot of this. I mean, no offense, but it seems kinda like you just threw in everything that you think would be kinda cool without even thinking about how much work it would take, what the story they want you to follow is (for example a story like Halo 3's wouldn't work as open world), and whether you can balance it.

Of course, I prefer to not make lists of things I want, because it always ends in disappointment for the things that didn't get in the game. Also, I trust the creative minds at Bungie to come up with a good story that works and is fun to play - all that really matters to me.

I respect that, I'm just throwing out ideas. It could verywell change the gameplay and make it non-Halo-ish, which is something I want to avoid.

Your non-linear campaign idea sounds like it could go either way to me, I don't know. It could be awesome if Bungie pulled it off, but their style has always been more linear so that they can keep the story fast-paced. Maybe they could just create huge open areas for combat within the linear missions, they've come close to this in the previous games, but a larger scale would be cool.

Regardless of either way it goes, here are some things I'd like to see in the campaign:

1-Have some sort of Space battle (not necessarily in a vehicle). For instance, you could be repelling covenant borders on the hull of your ship while dodging plasma bursts and strafing runs from enemy ships, and eventually once you've repelled the borders, leap through space onto a covenant ship and hijack it. This would be fun, no?

2-Epic sized campaign battles. I'm talking 5 scarabs with hundreds of covenant vehicles cruising around beneath them with thousands of (or at least several hundred) foot soldiers marching on a human city where hundreds and hundreds of marines are held up in destroyed buildings with hundreds of vehicles in entrenched positions and a bloody, helltorn, no man's land inbetween it all. And, overhead, hornets banshees, pelicans, phantoms, and what have you are having it out, leading to a constant shower of flaming debris raining down from the sky above.

3-It would be cool to see the engineers in game finally.

4-On or underwater battle

5-Different Hunter forms in campaign because they're just a bunch of worms that attach together, so why not make something epic and scary to fight out of them?

I know this is asking for a lot, and these are just some personal wishes of mine, so it's no biggy if they never happen, but I still think it'd be cool.

There are Engineers in ODST as there is an achievement related to them so... yeah. I would personally love to see massive battles and if there was a space battle I would at least disagree for there to be vehicles. But it'd be cool if you could see a whole scope or detail of the battle going down on Reach. And different Hunters... Hmm... I would personally like to see that but I am not sure how it would affect the canon.

This list is to really only help me with all the hype. Well... The hype that I created for myself. And it's funner if other people see your idea. And yeah this is JUST a wishlist. I'm not thinking too hard about balancing. But everyone is entitled to critique my opinion soooo... yup.

I would LOVE to see numbers 1 and 2.
massive campaign battles would be awesome, and they could even, somehow implement these massive battles into matchmaking whether it be bots or lots of people.
Space battles?
Yes!
I would love to see a campaign where you are really in the midst of the war, massive fights, high jacking in space?
doing the simple yet significant stuff, is what i would like to see for at least half the game; where they could than end on something more epic and meaningful.
