Subject: Reach is NOT the Last Halo Game Bungie Will Make

Nothing is better than gaming through the day, into the night, then back into the day. It's like when you finally push that power button you feel like you've accomplished nothing, but at the same time, you can't stop smiling.

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, I have no idea where else to post it.

A lot of people have been saying that Reach will be Bungie's last Halo game and that they're going to move on to bigger, better things. Even though Bungie has partially confirmed this in some interviews, they said the same thing after they released Halo 3, so Bungie can not be trusted completely.

Think about it. Why would Bungie go to the trouble of making the Legendary ending of Halo 3 lead us to believe there will be a continuation of the Master Chief's story? They didn't have to put in the scene of the Forward Unto Dawn drifting towards an unknown planet.

Since the Halo franchise has made TONS of money over the years, I think it would be a stupid move financially to abandon the franchise. Plus, since the Halo 2 ending was also a cliffhanger and they pretty much tied off all the loose ends in Halo 3, you should probably expect them to continue the Chief's story for at least one more game.

Your thoughts?

Its always a good idea to keep your bases open. Besides, this way it sets up the stage for the next developer to make a Halo game.

the halo franchise is worth a lot of money so it made sense to leave it open. then they can sell the ip or hold onto it as an asset. so long as the possibility is out there the rights to halo is worth a lot of money. they could potentially hold on to it for ten years and put a value of say 60 million on the franchise and just use it to make there company look richer. also might have made sense to leave it open due to the movie rights being at play and it may even have been a condition they don't kill him to sell the movie rights. after all if the movie was huge they wouldn't want to be limited by a game ending. there are many options, do i think they had intentions to make halo 4 by the time they finished 3, i'd say no. but makes sense to leave the option on the table for investors to dwell on etc

Don't quote me on this, but I have heard a rumor that one of the animated short films in Halo Legends will continue MC's story. It is not impossible, however, that his ultimate fate will be revealed in Halo 3: ODST or Halo: Reach.

Exactly. Don't worry, although this IS most likely the last Halo game made by Bungie. Future Halo titles should not disappoint. Unlike Halo Wars, which was an entirely different genre, FPS Halo titles should be fairly easy to produce with that 'Halo' feel to them. Bungie will be keeping an eye on their baby. And Microsoft is not going to let Halo (a multi-million dollar franchise) die.

1) Bungie said there would be no more games in the Halo story arch. These are two subplots. Bungie never lies, they just twist words so that while they say one thing, there is a loophole to exploit.

2) Also, Bungie may never make another Halo, but there will be more.

My best guess is that after a few non-Bungie Halo's, Bungie will show up with the next generation of Halo for the Xbox 1080, and nerds will gasm everywhere.

Bungie doesn't want to milk the series too much. Microsoft on the other hand, does (ie. Halo Legends).

Bring Forth; the Banhammer

Where's my Mythic Member Status Bungie, eh?

I'm pretty sure they said they aren't going to continue with the story, which they aren't. They would have to go forwards to do this in terms of story. Since they are going back they are really expanding the story rather than continuing it.

I have a feeling you are right, however I hope you are wrong. I don't want to see Halo become milked any more than it already has been. Halo needs to go out with a bang, not slowly die.

Bungie said: that we wont be playing a MC after Halo 3. BUT EVERY ONE THOUGHT THAT THAT MENT NO MORE HALO!

lol

Lets hope they don't overdo it. Too many Halos and the majority of humans will get bored with the franchise alltogether, or be simply confused....I just hope 343 Industries does not put out a bunch of Halo 2 look alikes...We all remember Halo 2 right?

Maybe one more game based after halo 3. At first, i thought odst was after halo 3 cuz of the new hero, new story line stuff. Maybe, but the chances are slim. Several show and games end on cliff hangers with no explaination later on. Like, you know, maybe bungie used it to make us think. If you don't know, well, they do.

Woop woop.

Who says that the next Halo game has to be called Halo? I mean, MC wasn't drifting towards a halo, was he?
