Before now, I'd always used Halo PC and Custom Edition for multiplayer only.
If I ever felt like playing Campaign I'd just fire up my 360 and pop in my Halo Combat Evolved disc. Since then my Halo: Combat Evolved disc has been broken and unplayable.

Recently, for those who are unaware, CMT's Single Player Version 2 beta for Custom Edition was released and I really wanted to try it. I learned that there's a small problem when I load the Campaign, though. Whenever I started the level, the beginning cutscene wouldn't load, strangely. I heard the scene begin to play. The sound played for about 5 seconds, then stopped. It skipped back about 3 seconds, then played another 5 seconds. It did that through the entire cutscene and still nothing.

Since there wasn't really anything I could do, I alt + F4'd the program and quit out. I thought I'd try again and continued. Good news, It went right to the beginning of the level and I was able to play.

I thought it may have been a bug in the map, but I wanted to be sure. I opened the campaign in the original Halo PC and the same problem ensued. I was able to quit out, and start at the first checkpoint like before. I got through Pillar of Autumn and Halo, but when I got to Truth and Reconciliation, I couldn't quit and continue the level.

I'd really like to know if anyone's ever heard of this problem because I googled the hell out of this problem and got nothing.

My OS is Windows Vista 64 bit, which I'm currently expecting to be the problem.

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

I've had a lot of problems with Halo on PC, but never heard this one before. Wish I could help, but I have no idea. it is possible that your 64-bit Vista could be the problem.

Yeah, that's what I think.
I'd hate to have to get a new machine just to play SPV2, lol.
I'll see if I can get a recording of it.
