Personally, I really dislike Bungie's decision with Halo: ODST's firefight. I mean come on, no matchmaking! Bungie is going to lose a lot of players to this game. I honestly think we will all get bored real fast with the short gameplay and weak multiplayer. I mean sure, how about I get more friends. I can do that, I already have friends ready to play with.but not everyone cares to have friends on their list or constantly play with the same people over and over again. Matchmaking is simple. So what if people leave, every multiplayer game has that problem even if you're playing with your friends.
Now what if you want to play solo? I think that's pretty lame because you can't even have AI teamates to back you up.
There really needs to be custom games. What if you don't feel like killing some baddies and you just wanna fool around on the maps and make up stupid games like Halo 2?

I honestly think this game is going to come and go real fast because of Bungie's decision unless they come out with a matchmaking update soon.

Tell me what you guys think?

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

How about you judge the game when it's out.

Go Rams and Missouri!

Yeah. Let's just delay the release 6 months so Bungie can re-network/code (or whatever they must do) the entire game so that Firefight supports matchmaking.

the snipernators rule

search bar. bungie have said that halo 3 odst will have no multiplayer but it will come with a 2nd disk with all of h3s multiplayer, forge and custom games

I agree we should judge the game when it's out.

However I don't see it having the lasting power of h3 or cod mw simply cuz I can only go on message boards for so long to try and find people to play with.

I mean who suggested a lack of matchmaking and everyone agreed?

Now if they did add a matchmaking feature I would deeply deeply and I stress deeply appreciate it. The two just go together.

Seven days before I knew about this game I told my GoW2 friends how I wish halo had a horde mode than found out about this. It's like my prayers were answered before they were asked.

But than I found out it lacks matchmaking. I'll still get it I just was hoping this could pull me out of my gaming slump.

I love you bungie.

Go back to being a failure kid.

So you're saying that there shouldn't be any Firefight?....
At all? Take it out altogether because there ain't no MM for it?

Why? Why!? WHY!?!?!?!?

  • 08.10.2009 1:04 AM PDT

Adding a matchmaking component to FireFight would've been a nice touch, but it's going be fine without it.

Most of you guys misread the OP.

It is basically asking you what do you think of there being no matchmaking,

You can find randoms to fight without matchmaking,
not much of a big deal.

Royale with Cheese

I really don't mind having control over who I play with. With an 'endless' four player mode, you don't really need matchmaking, because you'd basically go in with your friends and be playing with them all night.

I know i wouldn't get bored of this game fast, but i do agree with the firefight matchmaking argument. so common bungie, how 'bout it?
you stated that this game is really something that you made to give back to the fans, this is obviously something that we want. now im not complaining about it and i DO think we should judge the game once we get it. i know its gone gold but WE BELIEVE IN YOU. you CAN do it.

Like I quoted b4

-"Two men enter, the better man leaves. The lesser man is respawning, and that's Halo."

Firefight will be better then Halo 2 and Halo 3 matchmaking. This is what allot of people have wanted for a long time, destroying endless waves of covies!

Besides you'll get your precious matchmaking in Reach.

But there's no sense crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying till you run out of cake.
And the Science gets done.
And you make a neat gun.
For the people who are still alive.

Well atleast you can still play over xbl...

If you would like to hear the list of the ways technologies have failed to make life easier, press 3

Well, has anyone noticed the connection difference between MM with 3 other people and 3 people you found in the forums?

MM was designed not only to play with people quickly, but to be able to do so with minimal lag

E.g, I have a friend that lives just a few kilometers down the road from me, and I'm better connected with someone from halfway across the globe that I found in MM.

Check Out my FileShare.
I was once on Bungie Faves. (Feb.7-15)
I'd like to know why I can't see the signatures of others of myself on the forum. I have made favs once, 7777 campaign kills, and I helped bring modders down when they were at their strongest

It's not their decision, it's the campaign engine that the game was built off of. But I wouldn't want matchmaking in it. Think about some little 12 year old kid losing all of your lives for his lols...

  • 08.10.2009 4:05 AM PDT

I'm fine with no matchmaking.

  • 08.10.2009 4:07 AM PDT

Bam! Said the lady.

lets imagin firefight with matchmaking for a second, one douch joins grabs rockets shoots you trying to kill a brute from the first wave proceeds to waste the valuble rockets and the quits coz he is always dieing. with out any form of ranking firefight would be a cluster -blam!- of people trolling and -blam!- games over for teams.

bungie dont expect halo odst to have a massive online community they have halo 3 for that which there adding new maps to they added firefight for a bit of fun its not planned to rival the online of halo 3

Use your common sense (if you have any)

Oly Oly Oxen Free

Lets be honest - a large amount of guys you end up playing during H3 matchmaking are annoying, bad tempered, insulting, obscene, arrogant. The good guys (and there are many, don't get me wrong) usually keep quiet if there are jerks around, so you don't notice them.

Imagine getting into a game of firefight with 3 other people who were jerks. They wanted power weapons for themselves, teamkilled if they didn't get them, called various homophobic or racist names if you died, and lacked team cohesion. Doesn't sound fun, does it?

Firefight needs strong teamplay. I'm not saying its impossible via matchmaking, just a lot harder.
