If Bungie decides to remove Left Bumber for dual wielding they could use it for a melee block.

This would add strategy and depth to close range combat. If they add a system that allows blocking AND ducking under melees to avoid them, it would add a lot of variety to the system.

Blocking should cut the melee damage in half, while ducking would completely negate the damage. (Obviously, since they won't hit you)

You could also crouch + melee under someone blocking and standing to avoid their block, dealing them the full damage. Crouching + blocking to block a crouch melee would work the same way.

This will allow people to outsmart their opponents in melee fights, a huge improvement over the Halo 3 system.

Also, blocking won't do anything to block bullets, only melee damage. You also would not be able to use weapons while blocking. This would make blocking outside of a melee fight useless and not overpowered at all.

P.S. If they decide to use Jackal Shields they could be equipped with LB and make the user immune from melees from the front. (The user will only have half as powerful of a melee as a result of wielding the shield since they can only use one arm.)

You would still be able to duck + melle under a jackal shield to deal the full damage.

they used jackal shields in the book so i'm thinking they'll be used in the game. about melee blocking, it would be hard not to make it overpowered considering noobs will just run around with LB held down.

Just don't make the blocking mechanism automatic

You also wouldn't be able to shoot while blocking and melee block won't block bullets. Noobs holding down LB will be shot to death. Blocking would only be useful in certain situations. You can also crouch + melee UNDER a block to get around it.

Ducking yes, blocking no. Remove all melee lock-on. That way strafing and ducking would be your anti-melee.

Why not blocking? It would just add more depth to close range combat.

If they add a melee block that should just be meleeing at the same time. Left bumper is for changing grenades isn't it??

Grenade Switch.

Plus, my left bumper is jump, so that means A would be melee block.

If you want to know how I got Recon, go here:

I think it's fine how it is now. If you want to block them then don't go close to them.

Hell no, I don't want meleeing contests to turn into the boring sword clashes we have in Halo 3. Meleeing at the same time should result in damage to both players while a block would add strategy.
