I was thinking about this when I went to sleep last night.

You know famous games like Starwars battlefront? Why can't halo reach online multiplayer have a somewhat similar function of picking classes?

If you were the Spartans you could choose from for example sniper, assault, demolitions, and so on.

If you were the brutes you could choose a variety of brutes and stuff.

Just wondering what you guys thought.

edit - or basically have us able to choose a different character with no different variables.

Just enjoy the damn game!
Who cares about BR vs AR

I've thought about having classes but not changing the weapons you spawn with . It would make Class systems not too overpowered.
Therefore, what I am suggesting involves changing the speed, strength, aim, and stealth factors of each individual Class, but not changing the weapon, so if the Gametype is Team Slayer, then ALL classes will spawn with AR. If the game is Team BR's i think you can work this out.
Let me try and explain.

John 117
Auto Aim Speed: 100%
Speed: 100%
Strength of Melee: 100%
Appears on MT: Yes

Linda 058
Auto Aim Speed: 50% (Lower is better, easier to get headshots)
Speed: 90%
Strength of Melee: 75%
Appears on MT: Yes

Kelly 087
Auto Aim Speed: 125% (Higher is worse, has less effect when Aim turns Red)
Speed: 150%
Strength of Melee: 75%
Appears on MT: Yes

Sam 034
Auto Aim Speed: 150%
Speed: 75%
Strength of Melee: 150% (Does more damage than normal)
Appears on MT: Yes

Fred 104
Auto Aim Speed: 110%
Speed: 90%
Strength of Melee: 90%
Appears on MT: No (Is the stealth of the team)

So you see, this is just a basic example, and it doesnt change the weapons, and all players have a weakness, but have advantages, except John, but he is the Chief!! This system may or may not work, but what i do know is that you will never spawn against a team of Snipers according to other Class-Based Ideas...

I like the idea.

Or basically give us different characters to choose from with the same strength

I would really like to play as a brute haha.

Brutes probably aren't even going to be a part of this game.

At the moment, brutes do not have an Energy Shield like Spartans and Elites have, so it would not be an equal fight.
Also, due to cannon, surely Brutes were not at the forefront of the fight when reach is probably set, so they might not even be in the game (hopefully)!

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

You're welcome, There's 100 other threads like this you could have posted in, but instead you decided to make another useless thread without doing research on the topic.

Happy?

Iam enjoying Halo Reach and revisiting some past Bungie games, iam a big fan of Bungie and their online community.

If ever they have classes it should be like Battlefeild 1943.

Why would they make Halo, the most succesful videogame franchise, more like Battlefront, CoD, and BF Bad Company, which are all less succesful? It makes no sense and it wouldn't make them as much money.
