I think that brutes are way to underpowered considering how big they are same with the elites they are way to underpowered at least comparred to the elites in halo ce. I think they should also make more brute weapons and some new forerunner weaponry

  • 08.10.2009 5:31 PM PDT

more weapons are always a good idea, and i think that their power is fine, legendary and skulls make them pretty tough

New Covenant weaponry? Yes. In fact, I'd like to see different sets of weaponry for each Covenant race, except the Hunters as they don't use anything other than that Assault Cannon, and the Grunts because the're a slave race. The Jackals AT LEAST should have their own weaponry, because they're a mercenary race.

New Forerunner weaponry? I guess, although the only Forerunner structure on Reach are the caverns that I can't remember the name of. Any still-functioning Forerunner weaponry should be rare, but very powerful. These ARE a race of beings with better technology than the Covenant, after all.

good point but i think it would be cool to get to see some of the more advanced forerruner tech along with some new brute vehicles/weaponry like a brute tank maby a brute air vehicle or hell maby even a brute scarab

[Insert Catchy Phrase here]

If you want them to be more powerful turn up the difficulty setting. If your on legendary turn skulls on, if their already on. FIND A NEW GAME! jk

I would love if elites were as much of a challenge as they were in Halo: CE. Dodging, weaving, outflanking you while you take cover. It feels like Halo's AI has gone downhill since then, just standing there waiting for you to shoot them as if it were Time Crisis: Halo.

Seriously, compare the elites in Halo 2 to the ones in CE. Even the brutes in Halo 3, while significantly better than Halo 2 were still a bit simplified.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

You got that backwards, the brutes in Halo 3 were the ones that just stood around the most. In Halo 2 they moved and such, just less than Halo CE.

I meant more to compare the Brutes of H3 to the Elites of H2, I see I wasn't clear in forming my sentance. I thought the brutes in H3 were a little more challenging when they acted like a pack, but otherwise yeah, they weren't much of a challenge.

I find the elites to be challenging on legendary on halo 2, especially with the mythic skull on. However, I do agree they do need more health like they did in halo ce, it dosen't make sense for a human to have more vitality than a elite in halo 2.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

I want the covenant particle beam for their anti vehicle weapon.

A meatier version of the Beam Rifle, it would fire a constant beam that dealt more and more damage the longer the beam was on it's target.

The Brutes in Halo were pathetic. They looked out of place in their shiny battle armor. I say lose the shiny shiny tin cans and bring back the mindless hulks i love and adore... with loin cloths... they presented no challenge in Halo 3 but i would actually find myself having to pay attention to them in Halo 2. Even though flinging your weapon on the ground and running at your enemy in a hissy fit isn't the smartest thing to do, Brutes were so muscular it actually gave them an advantage. I miss the Halo 2 Brutes and thats the only way i will actually accept Brutes and like them. With their shiny metal suits they looked horrendously out of place and they lost their brute force look and feel

blarg, bow chicka wow wow, boomshakalaka,

elites definitely, and brutes (hopefully) won't be in the game

If we're talking about vehicles as weapons too, I'd love to see some of the units from Halo Wars make it into the Halo series. One unit I would consider viable too be ported would be the Locust. With its scale its about the same size as a Wraith and with its beam weapon it'd have some good range. It'd be almost the equivalent of a super sentinel beam where you can fire for sustained burst with a short cooldown. Also you have to keep your cross hair on the target to get the kill. Also I would definitely consider this unit and Elite unit and not a brute unit.

To be honest., i'd like to see some kind of Brute semi-automatic weapon. I mean, the humans have the BR, the Elites have the Carbine. I know Brutes use the carbine as well, but it's not really a Brute weapon.

Woot Woot Woot
Sangheili FTW!

Halo:CE had the smartest and most challenging Elites of the whole trilogy... and i hope in Halo:Reach we'll see them again with that good AI with the variety of their armors like H2 (Rangers, Ultra, Zealots, Ossona, Major, Minor, Honor guards.... not just Major and Minor like in H3.)
And i hope Elites will be playable too in campaign or at least in Multiplayer. But with their own recharging shield sound and HUD color, not like in H3 where the Elite shields make the same noise of the Spartan shields... yeah, this are little things, but i personally care 'bout 'em.

In Halo:CE even on heroic you need a whole MA5B clip to take down a Minor Elite... in H2 just half SMG clip and u kill a Elite.... quite embarassing.

Also for the Brutes i agree with you.
In H3 they're anything special... not really challenging and something weak compared to H2.
At least in H2 their berserk mode is really dangerous.
But in H2 they look too much like crazy gorrilas (rember Chewbekka?) and their look dont match well with the Covenant generical look.
So imho i prefer if Brutes compare in Halo:Reach with power armors of H3 but with the strenght of H2.

Brutes won't be in Reach. They were first introduced in Halo 2. Halo Wars messed up with that factor.

  • 08.11.2009 6:52 AM PDT

Overdose v420v

Actually if you look at the Halo Timeline, Brutes were always in the Covenant they just didnt show up intil Halo 2, because Bungie had to rush the release of Halo 1, because Microsoft threatened to drop the game if it didnt come out by then, the reason that nobody knew about them prior to Halo 2 is that they were rarely seen on the battlefield, and most people who encountered them were killed b4 anyone else could hear about them, but since there was no mention of Brutes in the Halo: The Fall Of Reach novel, I think you're right about them not being in Reach

Reach MMO. Here's to hoping.

And the people that believe "the hardcore playlists would be more popular if the rules were strictly MLG" can come off it, now. If you're not willing to support something close to your own setup, there's no reason for us to believe that cloning our own lists and stripping the variety down will attract more people. -- Shishka, Bungie.net

I don't think any organism should be able to take tons of bullets without dying. If you just want them to be stronger/faster that is one thing, but they shouldn't be able to take 20+ bullets from futuristic weapons.

That is just silly.

  • 08.11.2009 7:00 AM PDT

what are you talking about in h2 im finding myself having shields lowered by the same red elite.
