Subject: For those who want fall damage...

Why is his gamertag thatlolguy?

Why!? It is more realistic without it, why? Cuz your a Spartan! If it wasn't in Halo 2 or 3, why for Reach? It seems really lame for a spartan to calapse cuz he's low on health and fell 5 feet.
I understand it in ODST, it makes sense, but not for a Spartan. Bungie needs to up Spartan's abilities, not lower them.

Because in Halo CE they had it... So it makes chronological sense.

"Let me turret, you suck at it. Don't be sad we all know it."

Guys, the reason the Spartans armor didn't hold up when they crashed in a Pelican, was cause they were dropping from orbit. Falls on-planet, their armor could take it. Seriously, I don't want to estimate how much damage I'm gonna receive after I take a jump. In CE like a 20ft drop kills you, that is a fail.

Because the gel or what-not was implemented in MJOLNIR MK VI and received most of the impact damage. It wasn't in Halo 1.

Yeah, but they also have reinforced bone/muscle structures, they can take it.
Yes fall damage was in Halo 1, seriously just got done playing it.

Lol, you fall like 10 feet and die half the time. xD

Fall damage? I think that there should be some, but not like there was in halo 1, because that was just ridiculous lol

I don't think you should be completely invulnerable to fall damage. I think once you reach a specific height (pretty high), when your spartan lands, he has to take the impact, and take a few seconds to get back. Even higher. you would start to take damage.

I mean honestly, you can't fall a mile, and act like you never fell, even for a spartan.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

Didn't the spartans in fall of reach jump from a flaming pelican 5 kilometers above the surface of the planet and most survived?

correct me if im wrong....

YES!!! I believe so!!!
See, no fall damage...
What? Most of the spartans died from that fall! The one that didn't were in pretty bad condition for awhile after.

On the matter at hand, I do personally hope to see fall damage return in Reach for a few reasons:

1. It was in Halo: CE
2. It makes sense that falling 10 meter might hurt a little.
3. It makes the game that much more interesting.

Character Artist -- Electronic Arts

Fall Damage is subtractive skill.
It reduces the options available for placement and tactics.

Also, Man Cannons are awesome, and fall damage would remove these as options.
We would be back to the crappy camping teleporter option.

PS, Learn to distinguish Canon from Gameplay. Gameplay is the driving force, not Canon.

What if they made it an option for custom games?

I would really like to see a super tall objective map where the attackers spawn at the bottom and the defenders spawn at the top, but that won't happen with Halo 3 because the defenders could jump from the very top to the very bottom, ambush the attackers, and win all the time.

With fall damage, this doesn't work out so well.

Yes that happened. Still some died.

Anyway, it would be awesome if you could pay as a spartan while jumping out in the game! That event would be epic to play as in first person :D

What is so illogical about having fall damage. What is the difference between getting hit by a warthog at 40 mph and meeting the ground at 40 mph.
A Warthog weighs a little over 3x as much as Master Chief.and since F=MA, a Warthog traveling at 40mph will have much more force than a 1000 lbs Spartan falling at 40 mph. Simple physics.

Fall damage would make sense since if the characters we play are Spartans (nothing has been confirmed yet, keep in mind) because they would be wearing Mk V armor. The thing I DON'T want back is the health pack, though if Bungie were to keep canon, and they will, the Mk V didn't have as advanced on board healing systems as Mk VI.

You are lame...

I think that falling damage adds more depth to the gameplay in Halo. However, adding falling damage back to MP would be unrealistic in my opinion because of Banshees and the way the larger maps are made to have large drops. Headlong, Sandtrap anyone? Also falling damage would ruin Mancannons. Maybe in campaign if it fits the parameters set forth by the books.

I read Fall of Reach like 2 years ago and I forget if the armor they had during the majority of the book was what made the Spartan's able to fall great distances or if it was the augmentation they went through...

Not necessarily, all fall damage does is force people to think before they act. I don't think of that as subtractive skill.

Easy fix. Have a system which differentiates between two trajectories -- a more horizontal one (0-100 degrees) and a more vertical one (101-180). On the horizontal ones you dont take fall damage (mancannons) and on the vertical ones you do take fall damage (falling off a cliff, ledge, etc.)

A subtractive skill.... like the Sniper Rifle having no splash damage?

yeah i like fall damage, only because real physics still apply, and from what ive read from a few people, im guessing they are getting the idea that you'll fall from 15ft and die, of course not, more like 25ft and half your shields are down, or even 1/3
