a friend told me something

"A game must be fun before it makes sense"
maybe he is right, I think that Halo as a Retroactive Continuity thats why the models of Halo 3 are in the Halo 2 era, in Halo 3 ODST.

I read somewhere that the ODSTs will be able to weild the Gravity Hammers, that won't make sense for some people but is fun for gameplay....
Some will say
"oh no! the ODST are normal humans they can't use the hammers!!!

maybe some people think that this will suck, but lets see their opinion when they have the game in their hands. The game will be fun, if it doesn't make sense it doesn't matter, it will be fun.

(The Hammer thing was just an example, I don't know if the ODSTs will be able to use the Hammers maybe is a lie.)

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Lots of things in Halo don't make any sense.

reloading dual wieldable weapons for example.

Just because its unrealistic doesn't mean I want it removed from the game.

Canon is great for story. Not for multiplayer.

thats whym if there is a vehicle or a weapon in Halo Reach that "shouldn't" be in this game, the people that won't like it will have to accept it, is not that bad. Those are just details of the story, if we see something "new",from the other games, in Halo Reach it will be fine..

I don't know what you mean, but is ok.

What I'm saying is that people shouldn't complain about details, those minor changes are made for a better gameplay.

A love for games and a love for writing.

I would HATE if Halo Reach's Campaign was non-canon. I wouldn't mind some guns or vehicles in there that aren't supposed to be but if the entire story changes I would be pissed.

There is no need to compromise gameplay for the story, and I don't think that Bungie has ever done that.

Gameplay needs to come first.

If I want a good story I can read a book. Or 5, as there are in the Halo series.

In Campaign, Canon should come first unless it really would destroy the gameplay. I couldn't give a rat's ass about the canon being held together in multiplayer.

No, that can't be the case with games today when one of the main things that make a great game is a great story and usually games tend to NEED a story.

Gameplay is important, that and STORY is usually what is discussed at the start of Development, what Game Designers do is that they balance each aspect of the game out, they don't completely sacrifice one aspect for something else it wouldn't make any logical sense when you can both.

Dude I don't care and my grammer is perfect.I used "Big", as you recall it to mak is specific."to not do...",is incorrect beause "do" is present tense/perfect(or future) when it was a past tense.

I couldnt care less about how unrealistic the multiplayer needs to be to be fun, but the campaign has to be be as realistic as posible and have a good story that follows the cannon or the game will not be halo at all. it would just be another fps that people play for a while and then forget about.

I'm saying that minor details like a normal Human weilding a hammer should be welcome

hey how about BOTH?!?!

what???..

  • 08.11.2009 1:29 PM PDT

BOTH in a series like Halo is the way it has to work.

You kids probably don't know how messed up star wars cannon got. If Halo cannon ends up like star wars cannon the series will be pretty much screwed and only little kids who don't care about the way thins work will still like the series.

There are lots of ways to make reach fun without breaking cannon.

And bungie are, quite frankly, smarter than all you forum idiots (including me) they will think up a way to make it work and it will work but if they suddenly decide there is 500 sartans or some stupid -blam!- like that then yes, that is them screwing -blam!- up and pulling a george lucas.
