Go Rams and Missouri!

People want the $40 version, because that's what Bungie promised.

Well, when the price was going to be $40, there was just a 3-5 hour campaign, and Disc 2.

Now that it's $60, they have also increased the Campaign considerably (at first it was just 4 beacons, now it is confirmed to be over 6), and Firefight has been added.

I know that's what I've been thinking. What's wrong with the price tag. It's just like any other game with an extra flippin disk. It deserves the 60 dollars if not more. Halo 3: ODST is its own game.

I have heard that New Mombasa rivals the size of Albion in Fable II (in terms of land, it's not split up into many sections like Fable II). Both games offer a large open-world experience and co-op. However, Fable II has extremely glitchy co-op that isn't that good, and doesn't have Firefight, 4-player good co-op, Theater, or another disc. Of course, Fable II is an RPG, so it's got tons more weapons and stuff as well as a leveling system. Let's compare

ODST:
Open-world campaign with linear missions
4-Player co-op
Firefight
Theater
3 New Maps for Halo 3

Fable II
Open-world game
2-Player glitchy co-op
Tons of items to use
Leveling system

We can't compare the games, but we can compare the content of them and decide if they are equal in that regard.

I have fable II. I honestly think ODST will have a bigger envornent than Fable after seeing the E3 video. Fable II was big, but not that big.

The universe is probably littered with the one-planet graves of cultures which made the sensible economic decision that there's no good reason to go into space--each discovered, studied, and remembered by the ones who made the irrational decision.

Basically people are mad about the reason why it was up'd in price. Microsoft made the call and bungie decided to include halo 3 disc 2 as a bonus to keep the content in check. Basically we are paying 60 bucks for:

4-6 hour campaign (those saying more are grasping at straws and trying to justify it in their own minds)
1 new game mode
No matchmaking or multiplayer support for ODST
3 new maps

We are also re-buying yes its not free, its what was including to drive the price up:
Halo 3 disc two which contains:

All the map packs true halo fans already bought
Forge
Halo 3 multiplayer (which doesnt make since, if you have odst you own halo 3)
and all the other little gimmics of halo 3 except campaign

I know some of the younger ones on this board will try to justify the price with comments such as, "Well that was then, they've had months since then to make the game much more rich in content." and "The reach beta costs like 20 bucks right there." or my favorite, "I think this this this and this cost X ammount of dollars so I justify the price by placing imaginary numbers to different parts of the game,"

All have been proven wrong and silly in the big $60 bummer thread. I used to make thought provoking posts, but people just ignore it except those with a sense of value of money. Bottom line is those who know they are getting ripped off here on an expansion are complaining. Those who ask their parents for ODST or only spend their money on video games because school is still the only worries in their lives will support the price since they have no value of money yet.

I think the price is fine, and I have already pre-ordered...

<3

Because more than half the content being stuffed into the package, most of us already own. I'd say it is only 50% new content. And we people who have paid in full for Halo 3 and all of the map packs feel cheated of our money. I'm not that pissed about it though because that 50% looks great!

This forum is filled with people who worship the ground bungie walks on.
I am paying $60 for:

3-5 hours of campaign
Firefight
3 new multiplayer maps

I'm not going to include that BS about Halo 3 multiplayer because I ALREADY FLIPPIN BOUGHT IT. 95 percent of the people who are going t buy ODST already own Halo 3. I don't like being forced to buy the same thing twice. I would have been happy with 40 or even 50 bucks.

Because in terms of new content, we're not getting much. The only reason why the game is $60 is because of the inclusion of the second disk, which is great for people who haven't bought the game, but most of us already have bought Halo 3.

What worries me is, what if other publishers follow this example? It's bad enough that we pay $10 for map packs.
