Maybe if we discovered a new, very heat resistant alloy then we could attempt it but it wouldn't be pursued any further because of a high death rate. So, probably no.

They could probably be made, but they would be far to expensive to use in a practical aspect.

They cost monumentous amounts of money so i doubt it would be cost effective...Also, the cost of flying the pods up into orbit every time would cost you alot. What if a pod breaks? More money needs to be spent on very expensive hardware...

If they would make something that would have the same purpose of one of those pods you reall y think they wouldn't make it land at a survivable speed?

you say that but when you think less than 50 years ago a space shuttle had less tech than a mobile phone

That's different...Discovering a new super heat-resistant alloy is very different to making a new mobile phone...

He's saying that the rate of computer technology has come a long ways. In the next few decades I am sure that we will have more heat resistant materials.

That would work. But then it would shatter and explode on impact with the ground, killing any occupants...

We wouldn't need to go in space. We would just need a plane or ship type thing that could go so far up in the air that it couldn't be detected, then drop the pods. It would be better than parachutes...unless your chute doesn't pop. Atleast with normal parachutes you have a backup.

Halo: Heretic or Hero---An Elite's Story
Choose your own destiny

FanFicFactor
Forged in the Flames of Passion, go forth and represent!

Only if Chuck Norris was inside. Otherwise, no, anyone that tried to test it would die. Very quickly, I might add.
