Subject: No visible ranks or skill levels, please

I am of an open mind and I am willing to hear criticism. Also: That's stupid and you're stupid.

Visible ranks should remain, but a new ranking system is definitely in order.

It would also be nice to have a way to tell how long the account you have has been on Reach to differentiate against the Veterans from the New Guys/Boosters.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Most people believe that only you should be able to see your rank.

This is the solution that I like best. Ranks are fun goals, and I would like it if I could see my own rank as an indicator of progress. However, there are many bad things (and hardly any good, honestly) about being able to see other peoples' ranks. Hide other people's ranks in-game. Hell, hide them on the stat-pages too (i.e. you would have to be logged in to a user's account to see their rank).

I have to agree with this. Not to compare Halo to other games, but many classic (and current) games do not have rank. Leaving everything in the background is a steller idea. It could also bring back the idea of playing a game for fun... you know, like we used to do.

Good thread RT.

I highly agree. I play for fun and couldn't care less who I get paired up with.

However, many people won't like your idea as they are obsessed with the number next to their gamertag and view it as a golden trophy that makes them better than everyone else.

Of course, this is all speculation.
