Is there unscripted AI ??because my friend talks a lot of -blam!- about how Half Life 2 doesn't have scripted AI. Halo 2 will not be as tight with scripted, but I will still love it.

You can't have unscripted AI. How do you think artificial inteligence is made. You gotta right the script for the AI to know what it's doing. -blam!- Loads of if and while loops are needed for AI to work.

I think he means events, in which case Half-Life 2 will obviously have scripted events; it's a story driven game.

U Ph U CK...Unscripted in that when the game level starts there is fighting and damage occuring everywhere in the level. Not like it just loads aliens once u get past a certain point. Like half life 2, thats why they call it unscripted. Because it doesn't get set off by a loading point.

First off, you're grossly misinformed on the meaning of "Unscripted AI."

Secondly, you're saying that in order for Halo 2 to meet your "tight"-factor standards there must be NPC skirmishes occurring that:
A: Take place without your presence (entirely eliminating their relevance),
B: Have absolutely no effect on the story,
C: Have no effect on the player or the dynamics of the game and
D: Might as well not exist?

We'll be sure and let Bungie know that MC187 doesn't think Halo 2 is "tight."

SB-117

Its basically not scripted. An exampole of it not being (fully) is that the marine drivers don't go on rails, they'll wonder freely in their warthogs and drive freely to their checkpoints/destinations I think. An example of scripted is when those explosions go off when you get near in the Pillar Of Autumn level incase you are confused.

I'm quite certain that Bungie will continue to take extensive measures to ensure a fully immersive gameplay experience - be that through sound, story telling, visuals or what-have-you. However, the necessity of what are essentially, non-existent-battles is absurd. That's not to say that one, as a player, should not be able to stumble upon a heated skirmish or arrive to a certain location only to find the evidence of a massacre, but that the inclusion of a system that is designed to create and carry out events that the player will neither witness nor be affected by in any way is simply redundant and unwarranted.

Furthermore, MC187, by your understanding of the term unscripted, the original Halo was unscripted as well. For example, when storming the beach during the Silent Cartographer, the end result was/is always different, in that the number of marines who survive is based on real-time events, not scripted scenarios. Why would Bungie revert back to a scripted system?
