Come up with some original game modes for multiplayer.
My Idea:
Mode: Scarab
Objective: Destroy/Defend the Scarab
Players: Reach's maximum
Teams: 2 (although it could be changed)
Description: The defending team spawns on the Scarab and use turrets, movement controls, the BFG Scarb Cannon, and themselves to defend their Scarab. Ammo and additional weapons will spawn inside the Scarab's hull. The offensive team uses regular UNSC ground vehicles (like warthogs) and Hornets to attack and/or board the Scarab. The offensive team's weapons, ammo, and vehicles will be in a small base at spawn. Boarding the Scarab would function like Halo 3's Campaign where you could fly and drop onto the Scarab, attack the legs to make the Scarab momentarily kneel to jump on foot onto the Scarab, or even use hills to ramp onto the Scarab. While on the Scarab players will have to decide on a stratagy to defeat the scarab. They could go straight for the weak point or work on the Scarabs controls and defenses first. The defending team can repair and rebuild the controls and defenses but this will cost valuable time and players. If time runs out the defending team wins, but if the Scarab is destroyed the offense wins.
UPDATE: An alternate way to destroy the Scarab is for the Offense to highjack the driving controls of the scarab and walk it off the cliff or some form of bottomless pit. An alternate Defensive victory is for the defense to destroy the offensive teams spawn base (although i do agree this isnt such a great idea to give the offense defensive responsibilities).
UPDATE #2: The Scarab itself would need to be tougher alltogether than in Campaign including tougher legs with a somewhat faster repair time than the other parts if the Scarab, a tougher outer shell so people don't just blow holes through the Scarab, a newly designed hull (inside) for the ship which needs to be bigger and more complex because this would be where I'd like the core to be placed (inside not outside).
UPDATE #3: Although this game mode seems unrealistic for multiplayer or even Forge, solid Campaign and Firefight ideas can come out of this thread.
Campaign: Not knowing the story makes campaign ideas tough, but I'm guessing we'll have to face a Scarab sometime in the campaign. Instead of blowing the blam! outta the Scarab our hero takes it for a ride! Using the controls he climbs over objects and rains hell upon the enemies below, but he will need to stop piloting the ship (maybe have someone else drive during this I don't know) and defend against invaders his crew failed to stop with their turrets and are being overrun. Our hero stops the invaders from invading the hull and stops them from destroying the core and continues safely to their destination! Now hows that for a mission!
Firefight: Since Firefight is a survival multiplayer mode what better setting than on a Scarab defending it from endless waves of your favorite Covenant baddies. I'm also not sure of this but I'm guessing theirs no vehicles in Firefight. Well even heavy vehicles such as Wraiths and maybe to end a set another Scarab with the Cheiftan on it.
What a way to end a set!
Also another Scarab can be added for a two base style game where both teams are defending their own scarab while destroying the other. CFT, Assault, and other game modes could be added to the Scarab gameplay.
I hope you enjoyed my game mode and hopefully you can come up with great game modes to possibly help Bungie create the best game ever because after Reach, Halo is being handed to Microsoft and Halo will probably never be the same again!
