I remember the weeks leading up to the release..
It was my senior year in high school, having 3 other friends just as excited as me about getting to play it (excluding my brother). Reading up on it all day at school the day before, and getting shakes at sonic two hours before the release. We had to wait 2 hours in 30 degree weather. Finally let us inside at 15 till. EB Games was loaded with Halo 2 merchandise. As soon as we got it we hauled it back to one of my buddy's places and played till 4am. Two of my friends actually slept for one hour and went to their first class and came right back lol.
The following morning Matt, Tristan, Charlie and I went to the Chinese donut shop, loaded up, and played multiplayer online at my grandma's for the first time. Instant amazement. The only problem was that they would all play team slayer and mess up my rank. I use to get so pissed at that.
And now, nearly five years after the release, I'm still playing it online. I've probably spent at least a year's worth of playing time on that game. Complete life changer. Halo 2 is a part of me that could never die off. I hope the online component is never taken away. I've cursed, toked, drank, cried, screamed, laughed, tripped out and passed out while on Halo 2.
In retrospect, Halo 2 has been a life changer; from habits, to philosophies, to my sobriety. I've truly grown with Halo 2.
