Recent updates on the Halo movie has got me thinking.

(If you have not heard or read about it, scope it out first)

Now then. The Battle on Reach seems to be the focus of a couple upcoming projects. And was previously a book (really the story was in two books, Fall of Reach and First Strike had a very long chunk about Spartan's activities on Reach).

I don't see it being Bungie's style or even for it to make artistic or business sense to tell the same story three times, even if it is three different ways. (Granted, this could still happen. Microsoft does have a certain amount of sway with the Halo name. It may not be up to Bungie.)

Instead, I think Halo: Reach only begins as a prequel, then it takes a whole new direction, with a previously untold storyline. Something else happens on Reach. Spartans are involved. Perhaps Spartans come back to Reach after First Strike? Who and why could be just about anything.

Thoughts?

UPDATE:
Reports like this one just started popping up last night and today.
http://www.worstpreviews.com/headline.php?id=14652

Microsoft released a statement saying that while the Spielberg rumors may be true, the Halo Movie remains on the back burner whilst the company and franchise focuses on Halo ODST and Halo: Reach.

Sad Face :(

However, this changes none of the plot possibility speculation. It just makes us wait longer. So post on!

Subject: Halo: Reach not just a prequel?

sounds plausible and would make sense taking bungie into account.

Also this one is still a Bungie title so microsoft wont have that much to say about it i recon. Future halo projects might turn out different though

Well, the planet in the game trailer is definitely Reach, although it could be Harvest or any other colony. Just because the game is called Reach, it doesn't mean it has to be solely about it.

Exactly.

Halsey states she doubts that they will ever be able to come back to Reach and explore the rest of the Forerunner ruins or save what's left to be saved.
That and the Admiral they save on Reach in First Strike says that a NOVA nuclear bomb prototype was armed and placed on a 2 week timer on Reach. This is in addition to the one the Covenant captured and ended up 'asploding a huge Covenant fleet and most of a Covenant planet.
Basically, they lead you to believe that Reach will also be 'asploded in the near future. Does that ever happen? Who knows? It's never stated in later games or novels, etc.

It's cherry, tastes like strawberry, looks like watermelon, and you think it's raspberry just because.

It kind of makes sense, but also, it doesn't. They couldn't just jump from one part of the story to another, especially when the gap is filled in by a book. What I am hoping for is just an extra long campaign. And yes, I have read the books. At least, I have read Fall of Reach, The Flood, First Strike, and Ghosts of Onyx.

Also, game based off of Ghosts of Onyx would be amazing!!!!

Cole Protocol would make an awesome movie.

It really does not have a whole lot of main story information or background, but it is a superb side story.
