Subject: An idea for Equipment...

By the power of truth, I, while living, have conquered the universe.

Hi all,

I'm presenting an idea for a new piece of equipment (assuming they are useable in Reach) which, I think, is a pretty awesome idea. No idea if it has been suggested yet but I have used the Search Bar...

~ The Holo-Drone ~

Yes, we all saw it in Halo 2... Twice, in fact. Used by the Heretic Leader Sesa 'Refumee when we, as the Arbiter, battle him on Threshold.
They replicate a version of yourself as a hologram and are programmed to fight.

Obviously there would have to be many adjustments, like damage modifiers, health, speed and the length of time we would be able to use them. But in Campaign it would be a great way to distract your enemies whilst you make a swift escape from large fights.

For those who think that it would be very silly to walk in, carrying a large copy of yourself. Allow me to show you what the inactive Holo-Drone looks like.
Here

And here is the Halopedia article regarding the Holo-Drone.

So what do you guys think? A helpful way to escape large battles, or a complete waste of time...?

For those who may say that this is impossible to do. It is not, if they can appear in Halo 2 using a less-advanced engine then they can appear in Reach which is almost 6 years on from that.

Would be cool but Bungie uses some invisible checkpoint that when you cross it or are seen by an enemy they know exactly where you are no matter what. That's why when you get away and look back they are all looking right at you. But even with the Holo-Done they would just shoot the hell out of the Holo-Drone until it flashed away like you could do to the ones in the campaign missions in Halo2. Then they would know exactly where you were and start blasting away at you.

It is a good excuse to run for cover and get your shields and health back though, whilst the Holo-Drone holds off the enemy.

You could basically call this idea the "fixed" Auto-Turret that was in Halo 3.

Die? Haven't you heard? Spartans never die.

I think it'd be great idea, especially when you're outnumbered or the enemy has a tactical advantage over you. Are you sure about that invisible checkpoint thing? I think they only know where you are if you draw attenion to yourself, like by shooting someone. Once you do that, it's not hard to figure out where the shot came from, I can do it so I'm pretty sure a computer can without monitoring your movements.

I see what you are saying and I am not trying to be a hardass but the Holo-Drone would only help on Easy and Normal. Unless they could amp it up for each harder difficulty because on Heroic and mostly Legendary, when getting shot you get like 2 seconds to find cover and the Holo-Drones would just get destroyed in a matter of seconds.

It could possibly be a different means of it but it is really hard to sneak around alot of parts. I would sneak past parts sometimes, mainly on Legendary and Heroic to preserve ammo and whatnot but I would watch all the enemies first and they would all have their backs to me and when I ran from one dumpster to the next that took like 2 seconds the Brute would be alerted, turn around and start shooting and then everything else would shoot too. Maybe I just get unlucky or missed something that saw me.

Ugh...

First on a BWU.. yeah, I'm cool.

ODST;MYTHIC Screenshot winner! One of the first to get their hands on the mythic map pack.

This is another sick Idea!

But, I don't think it could work. Equipment doesn't change when one team uses it. Equipment isn't team friendly. Equipment levels the area that it is in. If your team, and the other team are in an area where you throw a power drain, both teams will be affected. Same with a regenerator. Same with a flare. Same with the radar jammer. Same with basically all equipment.

I don't know how you would use it as equipment.

I mean I could understand it in a non-team game. Where the colour of the drone doesn't matter.

Oh and this "Drone", equipment piece wouldn't fight. It would just simulate a Spartan going forward. OR, it would just be a Spartan standing still.

But the colour would have to be like white, or a colour that isn't used in team match making.

That all depends on the situation and how much health is given to the Holo-Drone.

How does this provide a even local result but an uneven global result?

Locally, equipment must provide the same result to both sides. Regenerators heal indiscriminately. Powerdrains shred the shields of both the red and the blue team. Grav lifts can be used by both sides. Ideally though, in a global setting, you would use it to your advantage.

In campaign, that doesn't matter. I never said it would have to be used in MM. This is just an idea too, probably not going to happen but it can be done and it seems to have been recieved well so far.

Ah, campaign only is different. Forgive me.

You are forgiven ;)

I see what you mean though, it would hardly be a balanced tool for Matchmaking. That's why we don't have the Auto-Turret in Halo 3's.

I had an idea along time ago for equipment similar to a regenerator but instead of healing you, it increases your damage resistance and makes your movement speed faster.
