Because of the way Halo 3 was programmed, installing the game on the hard drive actually made the game slower (I'm aware of the reasons for this, so please no posts explaining why it's slower). But will ODST fix this? At least on the first disk? I'd completely understand if disk 2 worked the same way.

I think Disk 2 is Halo 3 with all maps included. It doesn't have to install the maps because they run off the disk.

Wrong. Disc 2 is basically Halo 3 Multiplayer/Forge/Theater with all 24 maps.

The 360 can read faster from the hard drive than from a disc, so load times are smaller.

Disc 1 of ODST will work just fine as it is using the campaign framework for its feautres - SP, Firefight and Theater.
Disc 2 has the multilayer components making loading longer after install.
Post Installation, ODST Disc One will be faster

Yeah. You need the disk in your Xbox so it knows you own the game. Otherwise you could install it and sell the disk.

Its been confimired at a french interview that the disc 1 of Halo 3: ODST will be okay to install onto your Harddrive.

But, Halo 3: Mythic is not okay to download onto your harddrive, its still suffers from the same problem Halo 3 does.

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

Bungie said in an Weekly Update that they did indeed fix the installation problem for both discs.

so i can delete the H3 maps from my HD?
Evidently. They're on disk 2 and treated as normal maps.

Thank you. Now I can finally stop refreshing this topic looking for answers.

The fight has been complete.... now get the cookies!

While we certainly share your enthusiasm for the return, we here at the Bungie.net community are mostly made up of snarky asses and jerks who will ridicule you for making a thread about something revealed months ago. We regret that your innocent intentions will almost certainly be replied with anger and sarcasm, and politely invite you to don your Flame-suit, because you just did the internet equivalent of jumping up the Construct lifts.

Not both you fail only ODST. They have said that the multiplayer disc is just like Halo 3 and you shouldn't download it to the hard drive.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

install DISC ONE (1) {Campaign + Firefight}

DO NOT install DISC TWO (2) {matchmaking + Citadel + Heretic + Longshore}

No. Disc 2 is the Halo 3 disc without campaign. It contains all of the multiplayer maps from the disc and the map packs.

My problems [with Reach] are basically just full parties, mlg, and people who go out of their way not to get killed.

I have heard you can install ODST just fine on the hard drive, but I'm not sure where I heard it from, so just wait for more information to be safe.

How about a special addition 360 that doesn't break? They could make it bright pink with ponies on the side and i would still buy it....

So thje details as Follows:

ODST Disc 1 (ie ODST Campaign and Firefight ) Optomises the HDD install and runs well off of it.

halo Reach is Well into advanced tages of Developmetn and Development started Soon after halo 3 Was Released (bakken stated that t's been in development for 2 years now)

And the Next Bungie project (ign cleared up that it is indeed a new IP for bungie) is also well into the development cycle (1 year In fact)
