Since all of you gramitcally incorrect retarded slack jawed people can't write properly, i am going to take it upon myself to teach you how to use an apostraphe properly!

Correct usage: To pronounce ownage or to indicate a missing letter i.e.
Smith's (ownage) peas were of a higher quality than those belonging to O'Kane (missing letter, well missing words actually)

Incorrect usage: to indicate plurality and before every -S i.e.
Smith's Pea's (incorrect) were of a higher quality than tho'se (incorrect) belonging to O'Kane

In some cases the correct apostraphe comes AFTER the -s such as in the names James and Jesus as in St. James' Park and Jesus' Ministry lasted 20 years.

Please take note of this as i am sick of people incorrectly constructing their sentences and using incorrect grammar, i'm (i am) thinking of turning my pedantic ravings about grammar into a series here at the flood, maybe continuing with correct use of commas. let's (Let Us) hope i don't (do not) probably because i'll (i will) get a load of stick from this, but i'm (i am) so annoyed that i think it's (it is) worth it.

This isnt aimed at you good natured people who spell properly and take their time, but the people who think this is an instant messaging service and believe that people will be angry if they take their time and write properly, please remember this is a forum, and people still have to read these posts so take some care please.

First off I do know how to properly spell, use apostraphes, and have good grammar.

Secondly, I don't see why it matters. I mean really this is the internet ever heard of a thing called shorthand. What is the point of spending extra minutes (hours in some peoples case with as many posts as they make) making sure that every thing you type has perfect grammar. As long as people can understand what you are saying I dont (I hope you can still understand don't without the apostraphe) see what the problem with leaving out apostraphes so you need to just get over the fact that people do and always will leave them out when typing in places like this.

The funny thing is that he left out the very apostraphes that he is ranting about in the first part of his post.

Some people just can't get over the fact that they think they are better than everyone, even though they know that they're not. It's all about the attention whoring.

Attention Whoring... now that is a cool phrase. I'm going to have to start using that more often.

For being to "gramitically" correct you spelled grammatically wrong. And you forgot commas between "retarded, slack-jawed people".

Those are just the first two I caught because they happened to appear in the first sentence. Have a nice day!

That phrase has been around since I was in second grade. That's over 14 years ago.

Since when do we have to use proper grammar when writing on an online post? If i write something serious, i'll worry about it, but on here, it really doesn't matter. The only time it annoys me is if they mispell words a lot, or switch their, there, and they're (that really bugs me for some reason). This is an online forum, not grammar class.

Try teaching yourself first, my friend.

Incorrect usage: to indicate plurality and before every -S i.e.

In some cases the correct apostraphe comes AFTER the -s such as in the names James and Jesus as in St. James' Park and Jesus' Ministry lasted 20 years.

You expect us to do that? I thought we were grammatically incorrect retarded slack jawed people? If we really are what you say we are, what's the damn point here?

Please take note of this as i am sick of people incorrectly constructing their sentences and using incorrect grammar, i'm (I am) thinking of turning my pedantic ravings about grammar into a series here at the flood, maybe continuing with correct use of commas. let's (Let Us) hope i don't (do not) probably because i'll (I will) get a load of stick from this, but i'm (I am) so annoyed that I think it's (it is) worth it.

I listed the mistakes on bold, and the irony in yellow.

Ok, simply said if you're going to -blam!- about something, at least don't do EXACTLY what you're -blam!-ing about while you're -blam!-ing about it. You've proven nothing other than the fact that you're one of the biggest hypocrites I have ever seen on Bungie.net. So, come back when you can correctly use grammar and apostrophes, and I might even consider you as half the as that you already are.

I read a book (treasure island), in which a word with for apastingies (can't spell it) " ' " in one word. Since the whole book was written in a similar way, and I'm not very good at english, I didn't understand much.

I think the word was " Fo'c'sl'e'r "

I may not have it correctly, but anyway, can someone please tell me what it means?

I think ( I may be wrong) that it may be a item kinda like a long range magnifying glass. I'm not sure though.

I do not hink it was a magnifying glass or anything. They were on a beach and were just about to go negotiate with the mutineers. (or something. bad memory) As if the word referred to the act of negotiating. It was something with pirate rules, something about replacing their new captain (once a mutineer, always a mutineer)

I also noted that he didn't capitalize 'I', which is one of the only things that truly bothers me. And I think the single thing that people should work on is spelling (i.e. u r kewl!!1!) before moving on to punctuation and grammar.

Thats true, which is why I'm not flaming him to hell. But some mistakes are not mistakes, they are intentional. Forgetting one 'I' as opposed to none of them for example. And the IM/12 year old AOL user/''noob'' language is ridiculous. Lolz!!!11! </sarcam on the last part>
