Can anyone give any reason why Bungie liked to use the word "Sierra" to name some SPARTANs?

because, they wanted to use the Phonetic Alphabet, any name that start with the word S is called Sierra.

All the Spartans are called Sierra (this is a new idea thats why they didn't use it in Halo 2 and Halo CE)
