Subject: The bullet hose

Now that the smg is the default weapon to use in the campaign, it will obviously be the most used weapon. However, in both halo 2 and 3, holding one smg only gives you a total of 240 bullets, and the smg is called the bullet hose for a reason. I've found in halo 3 that you go through that ammo extremely quickly and that you would not use the smg for very long unless you constantly found ammo for it, which worked in crow's nest.

But since it will be used mostly everywhere in odst, there probably won't always be constant ammo laying around all game, so i was wondering if the smg in odst holds more than 240. It looks like in the videos ive seen that it is slightly stronger so not as many bullets will be necessary to take out a brute, but still, if you plan on keeping that thing the way it was in halo 3, theres gotta be dead odsts with smgs laying around everywhere in mombassa. So what do you think, does it hold more ammo now or still just 240?

Hmm. That seems possible. Maybe he'll mark ammo depots or something with a waypoint, assuming there are any.

Well the field guide just says its capacity is 60 bullets, no information on how much we can hold. Since we can hold over 2 frag grenades im gonna guess we can hold over the standard amount of ammo.

well... until the addition of the spike grenade, you could hold 4...

NO GROUP INVITES!!!

ODSTs can carry 3 of each grenade.
As for the SMG ammo... one SMG mag has 48 bullets in ODST. Field guide says 60 but if you count the bullets in some screens shots, its 48. Balance reason probably (due increased accuracy+scope), not canonical. And as for extra ammo... i'd guess the city has a lot of places where UNSC forces tried to stop the Covies... search the bodies. Maybe UNSC also has some ammo caches, and maybe Super could guide you to them if you run low on ammo?

Im sure there will be plenty of ammo around for it.

Since it will be a main weapon in this game, I'd assume that ammunition for it will be plentiful.

A battle had just been fought in the city, so I'd assume there's a lot of bodies with ammo on/near them around...

Ya I imagine it like a fallout 3 thing.

maybe cause they were solders on the ground in new mambasa duh!! did you play halo 2?

and if you played halo 2 you would have seen in the cinematic that the slipspace rupture was so big it blew semis around. if it can pick up a semi, it could easily send any body and the ammo with it miles away.

i would think that they would carry around 8 to 10 clips( 480 to 600 rounds) because they're dropping into enemy territory with only the gear they carry. so like the modern day paratroopers, they would carry a lot more ammo than the average grunt.

They probably won't give you too much ammo for it, as while it is the primary weapon of the game, they probably want to encourage you to use other weapons.

I would assume that the Super would know the location of any UNSC supply cache that was in his city and so he might be able to lead you to ammo.

For every action, there is an equal and opposite airstrike.

One screnshot shows ammo reserves at 192, instead of 180, implying at least one extra clip.
This may be a special ability of the ODSTs; carry more stuff. Further eveidence is shown in several screenshots with ODSTs carrying up to 3 of one kind of grenade, instead of 2.

maybe they have cop stations where you can get ammo or in every flash back you get ammo.

Maybe. I mean, Dutch and Mickey get a police pelican, after all.
