I dont know if im breaking a forum rule by making a new topic to answer another but I think this warrents a new topic.

If you look on the back of the limited Edition box (I cant do lazy links here). You will see a Space elevator! For a space elevator to work it needs to be near the equator (mombasa at present is 4 degrees north) and the top of the elevator has to be at a geostationary altitude.

Anyway, in the first teaser trailer of halo 2 (the one where the cheif is jumping out of a ship in orbit), maybe he isnt aiming at the covie ship but the top of a space elevator that leads him to new mombassa!

Also Africa is the birth place of the Human species (its where the oldest remains have been found). Maybe the covies are trying to eradticate us from the source cause of some file they read.

Thats my 2 cents

Thanks

you should stick it on the official theory thread because these are good and well reasoned out! you never know you could get it right.

And Also Near New Mombasa is the second largest mountain in Africa. Possibly Forerunner artifacts burried in this mountain.

Thats pretty thin to be a usefull building dont you think? Its also damn tall, you cant actually see the top of it! It seems to me a perfect match for a space elevator.

We'll see in 109days :P

You notice the rubble around him?

::lets it sink in::

It's ruins, and it's fog. You can see the landings. And not to mention the impracticality. They use ships to transport to space, they land and take off with pelicans. It wouldn't make any sense to create a big elevator, especially as a matter of conveyance outside of the ionosphere, not a constant tube anyway, the car would bubble on the top of the stratosphere, not being able to break atmospheric pressure. Not in that kind of tube. It would be folly to even try. It's just the leftovers of a skyscraper.

And look at the Eiffel tower- that's kind of thin too....

That build must be at least a few kilometers high if it is going into the clouds. I doubt it actually is a "space elevator", and it is much wider than we think because it is in the very background of the picture. If you look at some of the buildings below it you can sort of get an idea of how massive this structure is. So I pressume that it is just a massive skyscraper, and if you look closer to the top part of the structure is cracked.

I just think that's where the Artifact is... ie another crystal.

EDIT: Forgot to mention, obviously it ties a bunch of Bungie's story lines together by using all kinds of different theories.
