Recently i've noticed (especially on this forum) that people are falling for Phishing websites and their accounts are being compromised for advertising or whatever. I'm posting this as a warning to anyone and everyone... Keep your firewalls up, make sure you trust links you find, don't try to download an ODST Beta/demo as it's a virus/scam and don't hand out your passwords and details to other people. I know all of that information is pretty obvious but there are some peopel falling for these scams. Be careful out there, people.

A way you can tell someone's account has been compromised:
They start to randomly post advertisements for websites or begin to offer out Beta tests, Recon, Microsoft Points etc.

Hope this helps atleast one person on Bnet; this is a community with flaws but a community none-the-less and we need to look out for each other (that sounds corny but you know what i mean :D )

ಠ_ಠ

There are 2 times when a man doesn't understand a woman - before marriage and after marriage.

Thanks for the heads up, I haven't been on the main forums too much lately so I've never heard of this problem, I'll definitely be on the look out though

No. This is about phishing websites, not Recon give aways.

The fight has been complete.... now get the cookies!

While we certainly share your enthusiasm for the return, we here at the Bungie.net community are mostly made up of snarky asses and jerks who will ridicule you for making a thread about something revealed months ago. We regret that your innocent intentions will almost certainly be replied with anger and sarcasm, and politely invite you to don your Flame-suit, because you just did the internet equivalent of jumping up the Construct lifts.

You mean like the warning at the top of the PAGE? Which ofcourse no one looks at.

I fixed it at the end right there.

Well i'm glad that atleast a couple of people are soaking up my warning... In all honesty, if you get hacked, to me, it's just another account to report but i have had previous things online hacked myself and it causes you to:
1. Feel rather insecure about your personal details etc.
2. Have to create a new account on whatever it was which is a pain.

If you don't give a monkeys about whether you get hacked or not then head onto every website you can find but if you actually care about your account then just be careful about what you go on...If it looks too good to be true it probably is.

and how!

People that fall for phishing scams are simpletons who either don't consider "Hey, this seems too good to be true..." or don't have any common sense whatsoever.

I.E. "Giv me ur paswurd an liv id and i giv u macrasoft pionts"

Open your eyes, and let some electricity flow through your brain. It will do you some good.
