It's official Bungie is giving the Halo licence to Microsoft and 343 Industries! Bungie is making this move so they can make new IP which they cannot reveal yet. This blockbuster transaction is in effect as of Fall 2010 after Halo: Reach is complete. (Which yes this makes this relevent to Halo: Reach since it'll be the last Halo game developed by Bungie)

Of course the future to the Halo franchise after Halo: Reach has yet to be seen, but what can we expect depends on Microsoft and 343 Industries. There is a way to possibly peek a glimpse into our Halo crystal ball by looking at the history of Microsoft and 343 Industries.

If you have information please post and we'll all look forward to the future of gaming.

I swear to God people don't listen. Ever since 2007, when Bungie and Microsoft split, right after Halo 3's release, Halo belongs to Microsoft. Stop making it sound like it's a new revelation or something.

PEANUT-BUTTER SLAP!

Bungie gave all rights to the Halo franchise over to Microsoft in 2007.

343 Industries was just created to handle all of the future halo games, Microsoft is simply publishing these games.

343 Industries has no history, because they have made no games yet, everything they pump out in the neer future will be Halo based, so it is all a mystery.

343 Guilty Spark, is the only hint we have because when sitting around and naming the company they could have possibly picked a name relating to the first project they were creating and the halo universe. And even that is a hypothetical.

*sigh*

If you really want to know, Halo is already given to Microsoft and 343 Industries. But I don't blame you for not knowing. Not many people would know that if you don't surf the web everyday.

and how!

*facepalm*

The contract made in 2007 gave Microsoft the IP, as well as allowing Bungie to produce 2 more Halo games before Microsoft had exclusive production rights.

  • 08.12.2009 9:47 PM PDT

yes but them having the rights to the series allows them to make and sell as many games as they want. it may not have been involved at first but why would microsoft get involved if they couldnt make any money?

Frank O'conner ex-content manager for bungie was appointed the head of 343 industries by microsoft. Some other people that helped make halo will probably go to 343 too. All microsoft has to do is wave its leafy greens.

Why don't you level 50's out there, when you finally decide to apply for colleges...why don't you put that you were a level 50 on your application. And put it on your job resume, too. See how much it matters, and how much people care.

Halo belonged to Microsoft the day they bought bungie. EVER SINCE HALO 1 CAME OUT ON XBOX ( and before) HALO HAS BEEN OWNED BY MICROSOFT!

(-_-) Bored Face

I would like to see some concepts from other games with a Halo feel. I know alot of fans don't like that, but you never know until you try.
