I want to go into the gaming industry as a programmer or perhaps a designer. I just want your advice as to what I need to do to prepare myself for that kind of job.
Here are my current credentials:
Current rising senior at the SC Governor's School for Science and Math
SAT: 1550
SAT II: Physics--800; Math IIC--800; Writing--740
APs: Calculus AB--5; Calculus BC--5; Comp Sci A--5; Comp Sci AB--5; Statistics--5; Chemistry--5; Physics C Mechanics--5; Physics C E&M--5; US History--5
I have decent knowledge of both C++ and Java and have learned a little C. I'm taking a networking course next year in the Java language. I'm currently an intern at Clemson University working on a computer science project dealing with a simulation (C and C++).
What university would you guys recommend attending if I want to go into the gaming industry? Caltech, Stanford, or MIT? What should I choose for my major and would a PhD help in getting a job at a gaming studio? I'd be grateful for any advice you guys can offer.
