I'm a 15 year old stuck in the middle of nowhere. Machinima director, screenplay writer, novelist, jazz musician, and Photoshop junkie.

If you've seen the videos from 1up you'll know what I'm talking about. Longshore's one sided map idea is really does great for 1 flag games. Citadel seems great for free for all games, and Midship kinda looks like a better Assembly, but whatever. I can't wait for September.

Yeah the new maps look real good. But we cant be certain until you have played them yourself.

I like how with each release of map packs, they get better.

The fight has been complete.... now get the cookies!

While we certainly share your enthusiasm for the return, we here at the Bungie.net community are mostly made up of snarky asses and jerks who will ridicule you for making a thread about something revealed months ago. We regret that your innocent intentions will almost certainly be replied with anger and sarcasm, and politely invite you to don your Flame-suit, because you just did the internet equivalent of jumping up the Construct lifts.

Don't forget the forge possibilites. I want to see all the new stuff we get.

I don't. They should have all been equal, or similar, in quality. I don't want one map pack that's bad, then one in between good and bad, then one that's decent, then one that's awesome. They should all be awesome.

Proud director of Black Plasma Studios. Check us out on Youtube!

I don't mean to sound pessimestic, but I whole-heartily disagree.

First of all Citadel doesn't appeal to me at all. It's very small, all indoors, and I already saw tons of power weapons. Not my kind of gameplay.

Heretic, it's got great artwork and designing, I love the view, but like Midship, it's one of my least favorite maps. Far too small, and somebody told me the platform under the sword doesn't bounce. :O

Longshore seemed kind of a disappointment. Originally I hoped and actual shoreline, something nice like Last Resort. Welcoming beach, a view of palm trees. Being industrial didn't ruin it, but the fact that it is completely anti vehicle is what made me mad. There's no way a Warthog can do anything on that map. Maybe a few tweaks with forge.

Overall I appreciate Bungie incorporating these new maps into Halo 3 Gameplay, and taking the time and work to make them a beautiful piece of art, but this just isn't my map pack.

This is going to be awesome. I want to play Citadel and Heretic the most. Espicially Heretic.

Well, it's a matter of opinion.

I always wanted a small symmetric map in Halo 3, and the Heroic Map Pack didn't deliver. Slayer on Rat's Nest is very boring, but it plays Objectives nicely. I don't really like Standoff, as it's got massive spawn issues. Defualt Foundry has terrible spawns. And that big crane doesn't help when I'm trying to forge. The slanted walls don't help either, as it forces you to geomerge everything if you want a clean surface. Quite frankly, that's discouraging. The small confines also limited the amount of maps that could be made (when compared to Sandbox), and everytime I attempted to create a map, I had to block off one side of the entire map. Heroic only gave me Rat's Nest.

Again, the Legendary Maps didn't quench my thirst for a small symmetric map. When compared to Snowbound, Epitaph and Isolation, Blackout was much better. However, it wasn't a completely accurate remake. I only like FFAs on Blackout, as it plays it decently, but I prefer 4v4 combat than FFA or 8v8. Ghost Town isn't bad, but One Flag games usually end up being tied, as playing Defense is pretty hard on that map. It plays Slayer nicely, but there's a lot of camping and some of the geometry will impede my movement, or I'll lose a grenade in a crack. Avalanche was the best map there, but again, I prefer 4v4s, not 8v8s. It was a step better better than Heroic, which I appreciate, but it wasn't something I totally wanted. I actually held up from buying it for a few months, because I didn't want it.

The Mythic maps finally gave me what I wanted. Assembly became my favourite map in Halo 3, but the other maps weren't quite as good, IMO. Orbital plays Slayer much better than Objective. Objectives are really sluggish on Orbital,as the average Multi Flag or Neutral Assualt game on that map will be at least 12 minutes. And Slayer gets boring quickly. Default Sandbox is terrible, as it was a smaller Standoff. Spawns suck, and once the enemy 'Hogs drive out in the dunes, the only effective counter to them is the Chopper. However, Sandbox's forging capabilities balanced out the terrible gameplay, at least for me.

IMO, they aren't all awesome.

^This is almost exactly how I feel.

The way I see it, Bungie should include 1 map of each size. Such as, a smaller 4v4 map such as Assembly, a mid-sized 4v4 map that can also work as an 8v8 like Standoff (even though it's not my favorite map) and a large scaled map like Avalanche.

I think the maps will be pretty good, but I'm disappointed by the "Foundry" look of Longshore and the lack of vehicular combat. No maps in the Mythic Map Packs seemed to fill that. I was hoping Longshore would be the one, but I'm not utterly disappointed by how that went.

Heretic seems like it's going to play way too similar to Assembly and it's unfortunate. One or the other should have been made, not both so closely released.

Citadel looks alright, but it still is pretty small and I'm getting kind of sick of all the small maps.

Oh well, it will probably still be a blast and I'll end up playing the crap out of them. I just hope that Reach will absolutely blow me away with the Beta to make up for this slight disappointment..
