I think OP's idea great, and i think its something bungie would have to spend a lot time developing to put into multiplayer, I think 1 to 3 maps for this game type at launch would be sufficient for now but the maps, as he said would have to be well designed... I think 2 good examples of maps like this are the original Blood Gulch and Sidewinder.... but if they took what made those maps excellent but on a much larger scale it would work well. For instance the original sidewinder was sniper heaven in some spots, but the caves were also very healthy for shotgun spree's and Blood Gulch everyone knows its probably the best multilayer map ever made. Well getting back to his idea I think a mode like this would be great, they could also benefit to add siege and control mode where teams can capture different bases across the map which allows for spawn point choices and a new weopons stockpile... The maps would have lets say 9 basis each team side would have 4 and the middle base would have a lot of the "super weapons and vehicles, so some teams may try to rush and control that point. I think Bungie needs to go big with its multiplayer this time around to make the game fresh but we'll have to wait and see...

I JUST SAVED YOUR LIFE! (and stole your kill.)

simply awesome except i think you shouldn't have to buy weapons on a cruiser but i like the idea of unlocking stashes or whatever that one guy said. oh and also i think that you should be able to look out the cruiser and set an ordinance to where you should land.I'd also like to see the perfect base go underground.i like the idea of calling down pelicans to land vehicles. but it also would be awesome, but would be like call of duty, if you could call in hornets or banshees if your covenant to fly around and drop random bombs on the map for like 5-10 seconds.it would be cool if other pods dropped from the sky holding weapons(random selection) for each team when the whole team reaches 100 kills. that's my take on this idea.

Hello Bungie.net,

This is my first post, so , well, yeah.

I think that the whole game mode is a very good idea, with decent sized battles occuring between the elites and spartans, while having gameplay which is decent, and where you have to actually work, and fire more than 2 shots for a kill (Call of Duty, i'm talking about you!)

Also, the notion that the xbox cannot handle large combat is total BS. It's the servers, and the looking after the servers, that counts. If microsoft gives a dedicated server to bungie, then they can have 32 vs 32 combat if they really wished, and shut up nearly all PS3 fanboys (Except the MAG ones, but if the game sucks, we won't really care).

So, I'm out.

It is my latest cultural research project! By randomly saying LOLWIN to semi-funny replies on the Halo 3 forum, I hypothesize that a temperary self-esteem boost will be present.

And once they read this, they will be a little worse off than before.

Ok, first of all I would like to say that this is a new game mode, not the entire multiplayer experience. It gets it's own special spot on the main menu, along with forge and theater. This game mode would have to have large teams, probably like 20 vs 20, and it would only be possible with dedicated servers, due to lag.

So this is how the game begins. I can't find the thread for it but somebody came up with the idea of spawning in a UNSC cruiser and entering the battlefield with a HEV. I like this idea. So the game starts off with both teams in a UNSC cruiser. You have to find a HEV pod and go down to "The Perfect Map"

"The Perfect Map" is a map, imo, that utilizes everything. That means every weapon, and vehicle. That means that the map must have large open areas for snipers, vehicles ect... but, it must also have tight areas where the shotgun would be the best weapon, and everything in between. It would be a hard map to make but I believe Bungie would be able to pull it off.

When you enter the map you will start off with normal team slayer. The score will be 200. Once you're team scores 200 kills, you will be given a bomb, and you must finish up the game with a game of assault. However you will ONLY be given the bomb if you reach 200 kills. If blue team has 200, but red team only has 150, then the red team won't be given a bomb. Once red team also get 200, the get their own bomb.

Now there has to be a few twists. A big one I think would be adding Campaign scoring. so every time you kill somebody you get points, and you get more points when you get medals. Now obviously these points can be used for bragging rights, but maybe they can do more. Ok lets say you were doing really good, you just got a killing frenzy, but you died. You have a lot of points, because you got 10 kills, and not to mention the medals. So you spawn in the cruiser, but instead of going straight down, you go to a weapons shop. With those points you can buy a secondary weapon. Now I bet the thing I just said probably made 50% of the Halo Reach forum's population get mad, but just bare with me. These weapons would be expensive, so even though you got 10 kills, maybe you only have enough points for a Battle Rifle, or Carbine. In order for you to get a sniper, you would have to have way more points. However to keep it fair you can only buy 1 weapon at a time, so you can't go down with a sniper and rockets. Don't worry though, there will still be weapons on the map.

Now if you have been reading this far and aren't mad at me, you might like what's next. Ever been in the position where you need a vehicle, except you can't find one. Well I think we should be able to call in vehicle drops, from a pelican. You would obviously call in the drops using your points. So lets say I called in a pelican to drop me a mongoose. I would have to hold my position, for 30 seconds, until the pelican comes. If I die, the pelican will come anyway, and drop the vehicle, anybody would be able to take it.

So that is the basic of the mode I am thinking of. Obviously there are problems with this idea, like communicating with a team of 20 but people have said a squad system might work. So yeah, this is my idea, and tell me what you think.

Oh and if you want to see everyone's idea's, go to page 8 and go to AbruptArc's post.

I love the idea, but it would need 32v.32 (Which I also would like)

This sounds really familiar to me.... and if I'm not wrong it was posted by me in this thread: A perfect game?

Of course, I'm probably not the only one who came up with that :P

Wow, I saw no flaming whatsoever in this thread. That's incredibly rare nowadays, especially outside of MLG Cheehwawa's posts. Anyway, I really like this idea. As the OP said, there are many issues with this (personally, I think spending time on a cruiser would break up the much-needed fast-paced action the gameplay would have) It'd be so cool to see something similar to this in Reach because the basic idea is awesome.
Maybe after you drop for the first time from the cruiser, you have the option of spawning from a base located on the map. So red team would get a red base, while blue team would get blue base. So you can spawn on the cruiser if you want weapons, or you could get straight into the action.
yeah that could work. Honestly how did you come up with this great idea?
In the shower, it just came to me. Seriously

this is batllefild sistem and its very fun i agree with you

Great idea

Althogh I have to admit I'm a little jealous that my Big Team Scarab gamemode thread didn't attract this much attention but feel free to check it out if you find it.

Basicly to describe it one team defends and drives a Scarab while the other boards and destroys it!

and honestly I had a nearly identicle idea but didn't post it because I didn't think it was realistic enough. and both my ideas I just thought up in the shower as well, best place to think!

i liked your gamemode it should be on the game with this 20vs20 gametype

If you mess with da best----u get stuck like da rest

Dear inventor,

Yes, that sounds like a great idea ecspecially(spelled wrong) the 20 vs 20.
And how you spawn in the UNSC vehicle thats a good idea too.

And again, i like the idea with the points where you can buy secondary
weapons but yes make the weapons high-dollar because you don't want
a gravity hammer to be easy to get or an energy sword .

I like the idea of the calling in vehicles but you should make it faster.
And that leads me to another question. Will there be new game modes?
Maybe like something having to do with a capture system just like CTF
or maybe on GOW2 there is the wingman game mode you could do something like that.
And about the vehicle drop, lets just say you were playing CTF or One bomb
and there were no vehicles around and then you had to wait all that time
on a pelican, then u might die between that time.Right? So maybe it could be maybe something faster i know it kind of ruins the whole halo 3,peilican thing but
if it would be fast then i wouldn't really be affected.....

I Love ODST. Nice game.

Good idea. To bad it will never happen. I dont care much anyway.

 • 08.29.2009 6:52 PM PDT

Great ideas, except you would need equipment shelves you unlock with points also. Basically you're putting Halo Wars and Reach together by the sound of it. The amount of work needed to make fences and point unlocks would be immense, not to mention frustrating. Bungie just wants a fun and epic game to end their reign of Halo awesomeness. They want a game people will want to play for years after it's out, and with project NETAL coming out, it will make it that much more work for the Bungie Community to put into the game.

Great Ideas! Keep em Coming!

 • 08.29.2009 6:54 PM PDT

i like they idea but the pelican should be able to get shot down coming or going from the drop zone. plus the wreckage should stay i always love seeing destroyed stuff. realy does a shot down helicopter dissappear after a couple minuts after crashing? a burning pelican would be awsome effects

A Elite Soldier

great idea but a few things wrong 1 the whole buying idea bungie said they will never do and the mortoize drop is 4m section 8 tho very but the 20 vs 20 y not hav the ability 2 make squads? so u can chat with them so its not a buch of babbling and squad spawn in a pelican also i think there should b a spartan vs elite modes aswell

oo i jus had an idea y not make it like MAG 256 players that would b awsome

This would almost be as epic as Chuck Norris' roundhouse kick :)
i agree 100% with that statement

This idea would be fun and epic. Section 8 wasn't the first game to use the idea of dropping in and landing where ever you wanted look at metal of honor airbourne

this is cool but you need marines on your team, not to get you points but just to help kill enemies if theres a big group of them

and just to make it a lot cooler >:-)

and make them smarter than the marines in halo 3 campaign

MLG Krypton is ABNER316 all screen shots done by me rate them and tag them thanks.

I would make it so that you can buy armor permutations with the games money or like microsoftpoints bungie would be rich they make new armors and players buy it and get to show it off or have fun they should do that for halo 3 halo reach and possibly HAlo3 odst i think it would be great because after halo3 odst comes out everyone wil have recon armor so yeah that would be idea for the game. Wow. I remember when I had like the 1st or second post or whatever. THis topic has really flourished. I'd absolutley love to see this in Reach

 • 08.31.2009 8:26 PM PDT

Here's what I think.

Again I have the Long version and the short version

Long Version:

Weapons

I agree that buying weapons is not a halo-isque type thing to do because bungie's sole purpose for weapons was to be found on the map and players fight for the weapon, therefore fighting for map control as well. However I think that since this gametype has a much bigger picture in mind with a huger objective... weapon purchasing could work. The idea of campaign scoring built into multiplayer through medals and kills is genius.

It is not unbalanced at all if you think about how you are buying it.. u use points that you earn and so that really motivates players to actually work to get all the crazy medals for point multipliers and such. Its a good plan... but I do disagree with the weapon caches though.. weapons should simply not be on the cruisers.. that would solve all the problems with the time and camping people may do on their cruisers. Weapons should simply be dropped down from orbit in weapon pods such as the one in halo 2 and the ones in halo 3 sandtrap. I'll get to how they can be called down to your position in just a minute... but think about it.. once the weapons are on the ground, they are fair game for nebody to use. You cud use it, ure teammates could, or even ure enemies. So the old bungie factor of rushing to the weapons still apply.. exept now u can choose to get the weapons in different positions of the map.

Vehicles

Vehicles would work the same way.. however judging by the fact that vehicles would cost more and is also intended for more than one player.. i say that more than one player can contribute to buying a vehicle. I say make a list that comes up on screen when u press and hold a button (ill tell u wat buttons soon) the list should look like the score screen when u press back. The list would have three columns. One is vehicle name, second is vehicle purchasing points needed, and third is how much points it currently has contributed to it.. Get it? it means that players can choose to get a gauss warthog, but since it costs too much to get by ureself unless ure on a 20 kill-streak, u can talk with other players to pool in ure points to get that warthog.. and in the end, you all will be usin it for the team.. (warthog does require more than one player so it would be fitting if more than one player pools their points)

HEV respawns/reinforcements?

The helljumping (a.k.a droppin hot from high orbit to ground) is a brilliant idea, as ive said before a couple o times.. But i disagree with players having to drop via HEVs everytime they die. I think that it would reduce the flow of the game and people would have to wait longer.. and seeing how the game would need to have up to 200 kills to go to the next stage.. it means you would have to wait for 200 drops to reach that stage.. (of cource u can start early and shoot the HEVs in air.. but wudnt it be funny if one went of cource and splattered you?) neways, my point is to introduce dropping in the very beginning of the game and after you have landed and died, u respawn in a base on the map. Now heres the catch, the flow would not at all be taken away in this case, but u can also have some Orbital dropping action peppered throughout the game: The third way to use ure points is to call in reinforcements, This would make a person who is dead and in black screen ready to respawn, get a message saying you are the reinforcement (of cource the players who get the message are random) and these people would have to wait an extra longer to respawn inside one of maybe 4-5 HEV pods ready to land beside the one who called in reinforcements. People already do this in halo games indirectly.. if their teammates are dead in MLG, the last guy can wait by a certain area to make their teammates spawn in that general area... in this game mode, you use ure points to make ure teammates spawn in the general area.. beside you. get it?

Squads

The last impediment (i know, big word o.O) to the flow of the game is the communication and coordination of teammates. This can easily be solved by squads. Since the OP was kind of enuf to choose a perfect number of 20 v. 20, the squads should be of 5 players each makin 4 squads per team. 5 players cuz... thats wat the banner says ^^. A squad leader would be randomly designated and he can communicate with other squad leaders... sound familiar? of cource, since it is the direct idea taken out of the Book that this game is being made for (thats right, in the Fall of Reach, they had different squads, green team, blue team, etc with leaders able to switch COM lines to talk to different squad leaders and coordinate en masse. Of cource, if the squad leader is a douche, then the 4 other players in that squad can veto the squad leader out to assign one of them as the new leader

Finale (Short Version:)

As you can see, ive organized and placed the ideas into four different categories triggered by four different buttons.. ... Now.. hmm.. which four buttons are hardly ever being used in matchmaking multiplayer of Halo as we know...

The D-Pad.. isnt it a perfect fit?
--- Hold Left D-pad to select what weapons are available for purchase and quick drop to your location with the available points you have
--- Hold Right D-pad to select which Vehicle you can pool ure points into so that your team gets closer to getting a pelican drop off of said vehicle
--- Hold Down D-pad in case of emergency reinforcements to your position for assistance... that is as long as you have enuf points to do so.. or else you are alone my friend
--- Hold Up D-pad
> for squad leaders, hold it to select which other squad you wish to speak to ( u can choose from a list of three other squads ) and talk away!
> for squad members, hold it for a couple of seconds to veto the leader, (at least 3-4 players have to agree and hold it at the same time- or just tallies could work too)

And thus the full potential of an xbox 360 controller is achieved to fit the needs of this gametype and all its fans. The end.

And P.S. dont credit me for all the ideas, cuz i just took most of em from you guys nehow.. just figured out a way to organize it and put into realism/fit it into the control schemes. =] Hopefully, people read this, shuda posted this earlier.. now its at the last page at the very bottom of the posts.. The author could take this and put it in the beginning (use edit) if he so chooses. Comment if this is good or not.
