lol

For the post above.

First, I really like how you incorporated all of our ideas! :D

The HEV drops would work better than ground based spawing because (at least in my original idea) the dead player would spawn in waves. After a certian amount of time, all dead players would be dropped to their respective squad leaders, or if the leader is dead, squad members. Spawning in waves gives each side a chance to win battles based upon their kill/time ratio.

I didn't like the idea of squad leader vetos. You know as well as I that people would abuse that power. Nonetheless squad leader chat is a good idea, it'd take some getting used to, but a very good idea in terms of squad coordination. In my original idea, I was thinking that communications would be kept to squads only, limiting the amount of excess chatter from other squads. Switching between squad leader chat and squad chat is a little more, but it'd make everything easier.

Thus far, I'm astounded by the contributions to this topic. Keep it up guys.

Firstly, Thank You =]

Now, your idea kinda reminds me of ... gears of war 2. (In gears, the first person who dies gets a long respawn, and the the rest who die coincide with that persons respawn time and they spawn together) I guess that could work for halo.. =P... in drop pods... The idea of spawning in waves is much better than people randomly spawning every 3 secs in HEVs for random drop offs. And also spawning near a squad mate or squad leader is brilliant. But then again, this would eliminate the reinforcement button.. maybe we can find another use for that.

Yea, i Guess the veto the leader thing was kinda last min idea but i put it because what if a leader does not have a mike, or is a douche and not using it (even playing music on it like some do on live) it would be a pain for the rest of the squad to coordinate with other players. (i think there should also be proximity voice reincorporated to kinda fix this). But we need a diff way to choose a leader.. maybe if the player does not have a mike, he doesnt get to be a leader.. etc.

To be honest, i thought this post died but recently it resurfaced, so i got a chance to read and post. Thats wat keeps it alive right? Neways, we couldnt have done it without each contributer's help. Good job ppl. Now we gotta stay alive with this post while we make a mastercopy with every detail and a name. Ne volunteers?

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

Good idea. I, however, would prefer that one side is forced into being Elites, as well as AIs for both teams, (ODSTs, Grunts, Marines, Jackals, etc.) Despite this reminding me heavily of Section 8 or ET: Quake Wars style gameplay, it could fit well with Halo. I think being able to call in weapon drops would be cool as well. There should also be hostile AI not allied with either side, that you could perform bonus acts such as capturing their bases and getting extra supplies, weapons, vehicles, etc.

there are lots of problems with this (not that i dont think its a good idea) such as teams as large as 20 which means 40 in a game? now the xbox struggles with teams bigger than 8.
and also that game could drag on for like 40 mins and this massive map? all this would be achievable for a computer game but impossible for an xbox.
this thread is basically suggesting a halo+battlefield.

Um.. yea, ive never played Battlefield or even seen gameplay footage..probably many ppl here as well.... if u agree with even some of these ideas then it was all brought for halo in mind

Another thing... dont see them as problems, see them as obstacles. Dont say an xbox 360 cant handle teams bigger than 8. Say Halo 3 with its old microsoft built/sponsored, w.e. engine that was for the old xbox, cant handle this. That is why they have already constructed AAA engine for more power and such. Also Dedicated servers would greatly help, so would squad systems to prevent voice lag. Everything needs to be organized and made into a system. Games would indeed last long, thats cuz you ARE playing more than one game at once, it would naturally be longer. Also this would greatly help in controlling player count in this playlist since people who want fast paced games will go to matchmaking, and people who would want this gametype would wait in the dedicated server lobbies for about 39 people to join. ( it should be made so that you can invite friends and such in your party to speed up the process)

The one thing i believe is that if other games are using the same 360 that halo: reach will use, and still get up to 50-60 players at once, then bungie sure as hell can pull it off.

In one of my posts I came up with something resembling a support option window. For example, when dropping to the planet surface, the squad leader can spend a preset amount of points on two or three support options (reinforcements, air support, vehicle support, etc.) So in all, reinforcements would be a squad perk rather than a commodity for all squads. All support options would be on a timer though, so a squad leader won't be able to use them all the time.

Like all team games...you have to trust that the leader won't be an idiot...

When I find the time this week, I will help with a mastercopy if nothing else can be successfully contributed.

The Beta is super awsome........BUNGIE RULES!!!!!!!

Ok, first of all I would like to say that this is a new game mode, not the entire multiplayer experience. It gets it's own special spot on the main menu, along with forge and theater. This game mode would have to have large teams, probably like 20 vs 20, and it would only be possible with dedicated servers, due to lag.

So this is how the game begins. I can't find the thread for it but somebody came up with the idea of spawning in a UNSC cruiser and entering the battlefield with a HEV. I like this idea. So the game starts off with both teams in a UNSC cruiser. You have to find a HEV pod and go down to "The Perfect Map"

"The Perfect Map" is a map, imo, that utilizes everything. That means every weapon, and vehicle. That means that the map must have large open areas for snipers, vehicles ect... but, it must also have tight areas where the shotgun would be the best weapon, and everything in between. It would be a hard map to make but I believe Bungie would be able to pull it off.

When you enter the map you will start off with normal team slayer. The score will be 200. Once you're team scores 200 kills, you will be given a bomb, and you must finish up the game with a game of assault. However you will ONLY be given the bomb if you reach 200 kills. If blue team has 200, but red team only has 150, then the red team won't be given a bomb. Once red team also get 200, the get their own bomb.

Now there has to be a few twists. A big one I think would be adding Campaign scoring. so every time you kill somebody you get points, and you get more points when you get medals. Now obviously these points can be used for bragging rights, but maybe they can do more. Ok lets say you were doing really good, you just got a killing frenzy, but you died. You have a lot of points, because you got 10 kills, and not to mention the medals. So you spawn in the cruiser, but instead of going straight down, you go to a weapons shop. With those points you can buy a secondary weapon. Now I bet the thing I just said probably made 50% of the Halo Reach forum's population get mad, but just bare with me. These weapons would be expensive, so even though you got 10 kills, maybe you only have enough points for a Battle Rifle, or Carbine. In order for you to get a sniper, you would have to have way more points. However to keep it fair you can only buy 1 weapon at a time, so you can't go down with a sniper and rockets. Don't worry though, there will still be weapons on the map.

Now if you have been reading this far and aren't mad at me, you might like what's next. Ever been in the position where you need a vehicle, except you can't find one. Well I think we should be able to call in vehicle drops, from a pelican. You would obviously call in the drops using your points. So lets say I called in a pelican to drop me a mongoose. I would have to hold my position, for 30 seconds, until the pelican comes. If I die, the pelican will come anyway, and drop the vehicle, anybody would be able to take it.

So that is the basic of the mode I am thinking of. Obviously there are problems with this idea, like communicating with a team of 20 but people have said a squad system might work. So yeah, this is my idea, and tell me what you think.

Oh and if you want to see everyone's idea's, go to page 8 and go to AbruptArc's post.

i posted a post that ALso had to due with starting in a ship, but for space fights, but your idea is so awsome....

here was mine...............................what would be really great is have like an offence team (covenant) and defence team (UNSC) but when you start if you are on the covenant team you are randomly selected as a grunt, jackel, elite, and hunter. And for UNSC as a spartan, marine, or ODST. that would be awsome, but not expected,

another cool thing would be space fights above the surface of Reach, so it would be matchmaking in space. how it could play out is there's 2 flagships one UNSC, the other covenant, and you would start out inside of the hanger in either flagship (depending on what team your on) and you could choose what ship you want to fly, for example;, a Shortsword, longsword, or pelican. with the gameplay like regular slayer or team life based where you essentially run out of ships, and/or the flagship has health and the other teams goal is to lower it, and for either game a short cutseen where the winning teams flagship gets blown up the enemy teams. to keep from spawn killing from the hanger it could be equiped with weapons to blow up enemy craft that come to near like the boundries in sandbox.

also a pelican and covenant dropship on one of the bigger maps in reach multiplayer would be awsome to help get around (dropship attributes could be invincilble with no weapons, or destructible with some weapons)

Also again i like the idea of bringing race back, it would even be a good idea to have it availible in forge and as a new playlist in current halo 3

yea, iagree with the thing about people who want fast paced matches go to matchmaking. cuss this game mode, pretty much. sounds like it would be more like actual longer war. with the vehicles being called in. unlike the other reg. ones where it's just the vehicle blows up then respawns 2 min. later

I just have to say that this is one of the best posts if ever read and the only one i read all the way thourgh. you guy's are some of the most imagnitive people i know, well kinda know

~ryu ashen~

I think the game mode is a generally good idea. It has its flaws but so does every new idea that comes along. Although i think (i didnt read all throughout the forum so bear with me) it would be a good idea to make a sort of handicap. if you have a kill count of 200 +bomb to win i think there should be a sort of handicap. If your team sucks and your losing because of them its not exactly fair. So possibly throwing in something like if a team gets like 50 kills ahead using the 1:1 ratio (1 kill, 1 kill closer to 200), that team should take a 2:1 untill the team thats uber behind either sucks it up some more or has a chance to catch up. so if im Red team and we have 150 kills and the blue team has 100 kills i think it would be good to inact the 2:1 ratio (2 kills, 1 kill closer to 200) until they are within 25 kills of the Red team.; Make sense?

Tank beats everything!!!

Amazing idea but here is the catch...bad connection=bad bad lag which means there should be a limit on how slow your connection is if it is to slow you are not allowed to play it. This will make it more fun for everyone

This sounds really familiar to me.... and if I'm not wrong it was posted by me in this thread: A perfect game?

Of course, I'm probably not the only one who came up with that :P

Ontopic:
Very sweet idea!!!! that would be one kick@55 game experience!!! :D
Thank you for posting your thread. It had a lot of good idea's.

I'm already glad you took some time to expand upon something I just came up with and you referred back to me (although you couldn't find my topic anymore). I have to say that this idea has alot of potential!

  • 09.03.2009 9:43 AM PDT

awsome idea! i love it except instead of buying weapons there should be stashes near every rspawn point and you should only be able to call in drops around alot of alies, this would be great as a map varient that can be ultimatly modified to suit you.

Its the best idea since halo

This is all starting to sound pretty cool! Bungie could make this into a completely serparate multiplayer game, a bit like Firefight, but competitive multiplayer.
I don't know if it'll work as a completely separate multiplayer game.

Very true. but still gettin'it any way.

  • 09.04.2009 5:05 PM PDT

oh my god... i found teh lazerz!

i know, this shall be great if forge is in reach!

  • 09.04.2009 5:47 PM PDT

Yeah I like the idea for some parts but I don't think the Xbox 360 can handle 40 people or more with a game that has a lot of graphics in it. But I could be wrong about that because if you look at Perfect Dark Zero it can be played with 32 players in one party and it doesn't really lag up to much because that game uses a lot internet speed up at ones. But when it does lag the screen slows down instead of people disappearing over and over again like in most games. So what I trying to say the PS3 can handle a lot of people for mmog that why its somewhat of a good system but the PS3 is built for those type of games. So that's why you see so many role playing games online. But that's all I have two say for right .

You guys should check out this ODST trailer. Its a short clip with real time live action in it and it shows the Orbital Drop Shock Troopers in action. And the HEV drop scene is excellent. Just imagine that for this gametype in Halo: Reach. Exept you go down as badass spartans or elites. This gametype could be hardcore, Check it out.

Check out The Game Lounge

I love this idea!!!

It would be cool to be able to destroy the enemy team's ship... it would have to take a while to destroy it though... it would also be cool to have like a CTF thing except you steal something important from the enemy ship and bring it back to your ship. Please leave feed back...

It's a great idea.

I would change, as you anticipated, the part where we go and buy weapons with our points. Inside the Cruiser, there are numerous weapon stashes locked in chain-linked fences that become available every time you get a certain number of kills.

Each weapon stash, depending on how easy it is to unlock, would hold specific weapons (the stash that requires 100 points would hold ARs, Maulers, SMGs, and Frag Grenades. The last one that requires 100,00 points would hold a Spartan Laser, a few Swords, and a Missile Pod) These are just examples.

Ex. You get 10 kills (as you said) and imagine those 10 kills scored you 100 points. In order to open the first chain-linked fence to get to the first weapon stash, you need 150 points. Once you have 150 points, you can walk up to any of the stashes that require 150 points or less to unlock, and unlock it.

You bring up some good ideas.

I too support this idea. You obvisously put a lot of thought into it, therefore, I respect you for it. However, I do like the system stated in this quote.

  • 09.04.2009 9:29 PM PDT

Great idea. This'd be kickass ingame.

  • 09.05.2009 11:33 AM PDT

as far as earning weapons, why not have something to where pelicans drop weapons in pods like they did in story mode in halo 2 and halo 3? maybe something along the lines of cod-styled kill streaks. for example, killing spree sends in br's or something you can work better with. frenzy sends rocks, laser, sniper, whatever and so on and so forth. but as far as having large-scale maps, i dont think that would work without a class system, which will probably not happen with reach

  • 09.05.2009 11:45 AM PDT

i like that idea, they did that in cod 5 and -blam!- zombies is legendary. if bungie did that , it be awesome! and every one starts out with magnums. Great Idea man!
